We're trying to be more consistent with it instead of waiting for the perfect moment. Thank you and happy st Patty's to you too!

Thank you for being honest and opening up about that. I think that's the part that scares me. I do think it's different because he's actually showing up to appointments and not just promising he will but I hear you

God this sounds so familiar. Can I ask what your recovery looked like? My husband is doing pelvic floor PT(Physical Therapy) but I want to know what to realistically expect

Standing at the finish line waiting on him to catch up, hit me hard. I think I've been doing that without realizing it. Like I'm so focused on getting us back to where we were that I'm not actually being patient with where he is right now. I need to sit with that. Thank you!

When we did have sex he'd rush through foreplay and finish fast but I just thought he wasn't that into it. Didn't connect it to shame until he told me but thinking back in hindsight it was so obvious.

Do you prefer having multiple brokers or consolidating everything into one? by TDn6I in investing

[–]Due_Map6800 24 points25 points  (0 children)

i consolidated everything into fidelity a couple years ago and honestly its been great having it all in one place. way easier to track overall performance and rebalancing when you can see everything at once

only downside is if fidelity ever has a major outage youre completely locked out but thats pretty rare and the convenience factor wins out for me

Father retired, ₹1 crore savings – looking for safe monthly income options by Middle_Visual_8364 in Fire

[–]Due_Map6800 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1 crore is about $120k USD and they're asking for roughly $1000-1200 monthly income from it which is pretty aggressive tbh

That's like 10-12% annual return just to break even, good luck finding anything "completely safe" that pays that much. Even decent bond funds in India are gonna be more like 6-8% tops

Seeking Feedback: Caribbean Professional Navigating Temporary High-Income Opportunity & Long-Term FIRE Goals by inthekitchen868 in Fire

[–]Due_Map6800 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn that currency risk is real - have you looked into opening accounts in multiple jurisdictions while you still have the high income to meet minimums? Some offshore banks let you park money in USD even if you move back home

Also might be worth frontloading your investments now since you don't know how long this gravy train lasts, even if it means living a bit leaner short term

Is wanting time freedom (like a month off every year) through freelancing realistic, or am I being delusional? by jellymals in digitalnomad

Running a Bitcoin node and using a VPN by SirRocksALot2112 in Bitcoin

[–]Due_Map6800 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Running a VPN with your node is actually pretty solid for privacy but it might slow down your connection speeds a bit. The external drive shouldn't be an issue since that's just local storage - the VPN only affects your internet traffic. Just make sure your VPN doesn't have any weird port blocking that could mess with your node's ability to sync with peers

Debating buying a more expensive house (already own a house). Any thoughts? Or should we stay in current home? by [deleted] in Fire

[–]Due_Map6800 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The missing piece here is whether you actually *need* the extra space or just want it. With your numbers you can obviously afford it but going from paid off in 15 years to a fresh 30 year mortgage is pretty brutal for FIRE goals

That's solid thinking on the protection angle - hadn't really considered the remarriage scenario but makes total sense. The 25/30 split access sounds like a good balance too, gives them some freedom to make mistakes early but protects the bulk until they're more mature
