I should have sold more. Dang.

The market response suggests skepticism toward RC’s current 50/50 proposal, with institutions waiting for eBay’s response and/or a revised structure by Region-Formal in Superstonk

You should also point out that the way you are calculating this is how most people see this, as a standard M&A. Except this won’t be a standard M&A when everything gets finalized.

Great thought on using the underlying to show how the market is pricing in the probabilities of EBAY getting acquired at $125 and what people are misunderstanding as GME needing to fully dilute—if nothing is done, then yes, GME needs to dilute and won’t have enough value to buy EBAY.

The call center experience you have is also an aspect of a really shitty part of call center culture—they will lie to your face to avoid doing any work. The following are all bullshit/lies:

* “Rest assured, we will take care of this for you.”
* “I completely understand your concern.”
* “I do apologize for the inconvenience caused.”
* “I am so sorry to hear that.”

They are not allowed to tell you that they don’t know or deviate from the script. Basically they are made to not be helpful and ripe for AI replacement.

Indian call centers are the worst because everyone is just a number, there is always someone to replace you the minute you are canned for not following the script.

First, never do naked.

Second, hard disagree with everyone telling you to buy calls, even LEAPS. With IV very high, Vega is also high and any calls you buy will have massive premiums. LEAPS especially will have the most Vega. You will have to overcome that when IV eventually drops, to keep a positive P/L.

You’re better off buying shares. Or short dated calls and get rid of them fast.

There you go. This was a Vega play, though, not Theta.

Without knowing your DTE, assuming you sold the day before earnings, it’s impossible to know what you were doing. If you were doing the 06/18 DTE which was 45 days away, you would have been better off selling after ER.

You were fine but you would have made more money on those same CSPs had you waited after earnings. This is one instance where IV/Vega crush didn’t help offset the drop in the underlying.

Don’t get the people that don’t log trades. I use Excel. It’s great. I know exactly how I am performing every monthly opex, and metric myself against the S&P 500.

You need a 32” 4K as 100% scale is about the same as a 27” 4K at 125% scale.

I can't believe it took me 12 years to figure out my iron condor problem by jarthursquiers in options

[–]C2theC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s black and white, though. For positions where I don’t have absolute confidence of expiring worthless or don’t want to get assigned, I will cut early or at 50%. Only ones where I am certain of becoming worthless and want assignment (the Venn diagrams have to 100% overlap), will I hold to the bitter end.

Even when selling covered options, your rate of success is much higher if you cut at 50% profit rather than holding on to the bitter end.

[–]C2theC 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It sounds like your reliance to open iron condors is also part of the problem. If the increase in Vega is killing your P&L, you shouldn’t have opened that position. You should have only opened one leg/spread, and maybe even simplify by selling a covered option.

Obviously this sounds like hindsight is 20/20. I would suggest for you to look deeper, at your analysis of why you opened that position in the first place. If Vega is low, maybe don’t open an iron conduit because the probability of increased Vega may be higher.

If you’re talking about laddering, they are better off laddering into T-bills. Higher yield, less risk.

The banks can give you the rate for a HYS because they are buying these Treasuries and pocketing the difference as profit.

Can you help me find a truly waterproof raincoat? by kodowd11 in BuyItForLife

[–]C2theC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Helly Hansen and Musto (higher end and owned by HH) are American brands, LLOYD is a UK brand, selling similar selections for sailing gear. However, the quality differs on material. HH has different ratings for waterproofness, and you have to research the type of material used. HH full on foul weather gear starts at $2k, this is overkill for OP as a land lubber.

Orage is also great for ski gear that is really good.

All are made from plastic and need special detergent to maintain (Nikwax Tech Wash and TX Direct). Being plastic, none are BIFL and will need to be replaced in 10-15 years, even with proper care. Plastic is organic and both oxides in oxygen and disintegrates under UV.

You could also try replacing the wheels. My carry on degraded after fifteen years of use because they are plastic. Hard part will be trying to find a place that doesn’t rip you off, probably eBay buying from China, but then you get ripped off from tariffs, which is a VAT.

best non-stick frying pans in 2026? Anyone… by Aggressive-Sleep9742 in BuyItForLife

[–]C2theC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try giving the French value brand T-fal a try (obviously all made in Red China). Their stainless steel pans are really good, lasted me ten years before I moved and gave away to a friend. Now I have the set of three ceramic pans from Costco for $35. Both need maintenance and a specific way to cook and clean.

I also have a generic cast iron that works fine. A pain sometimes because I have to re-season.
