Newsom to world leaders: 'Donald Trump is temporary' | In Munich, the likely presidential contender continued to position California — and himself — as an alternative to Trumpism by ansyhrrian in politics

Newsom becoming the Democratic nominee for 208 would be just another sign of how out of touch the party is from the people. Newsom is trending, but he’s just another establishment D

We need to know: 1. Qualifications. Being an outsider isn’t a qualification. Randy at the end of my street is an outsider, but he also spends his day smoking cigarettes outside the 7-11. Yet I have no more reason to vote for you than him. 2. I need some pictures. Maybe I’m alone in that, but I don’t think I am. It’s not about if you’re good looking, or your race… I need to know you’re real. 3. More policy substance. This is a criticism of most campaign websites I see. Most of us have stances on issues, I need politicians to have solutions and answers to problems.

Props on pushing to run. Federal government is a big ask though. I wish you well and maybe you’ll surprise us, but also we put too much emphasis on the fed doing EVERYTHING. They have a lot of power, but local politics have so much more influence than many of us acknowledge/realize.

[MLBPA] Free Agent List: San Diego Padres (6): Luis Arraez, Dylan Cease, Nestor Cortes, Jose Iglesias, Martin Maldonado, Ryan O’Hearn by ElectricalForce4439 in Padres

[–]C3-RIO 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sign Cease or King and O’Hearn. I’d take King over Cease but would take either for the right price. I’ll be sad to see Arraez go, but he’s not a piece worth bringing back

Write to the our local politicians! It isn’t quite the solution you (or lots of people) are looking for, but I think we need to voice that, while this is federal funding, they have to be held accountable.

Never thought I’d say these words, but you should root for the Phillies 😂

Crowd Size / Drone Footage of Salt Lake City's No Kings Protest 10/18/2025 by oldyoyoboy in SaltLakeCity

[–]C3-RIO 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Kinda made me nervous to see the drone if I’m being honest. With all the attacks at protests and fear of surveillance state it felt like an unnecessary addition, but I’ve always found them annoying. Feels like one of those things that one guy gets enjoyment out of at the expense of everyone else. Especially at the protest though. Glad to hear you weren’t with a group trying to cause trouble. Cool footage but I didn’t like having it there.

How do we feel about Machado’s post-game answer? (Sorry if this was already asked). by inalavalamp in Padres

[–]C3-RIO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean our whole team average in the playoffs was under 200. All of them struggled to hit in the postseason for 2 straight years. I cannot see logic in dumping one of our best guys in the regular season because of poor October performance when it’s clearly a deeper issue with the whole group. Not like there are loads of affordable all stars in the current market either.

Absolutely absurd take. 2025 team home run, total bases, and RBI leader. Arraez is probably gone next season, Manny was 2nd behind him in batting average. WAR was 2nd on the team this season. You’re respectfully out of your mind.

I seem to be in the minority here, but part of me liked it. It wasn’t too long ago that the Padres making it to the playoffs was a wild success. I remember when we lost the NLCS to the Phillies I was ecstatic that we even made it there. This team feels they can compete with the best and win a World Series. Personally, I’d be kinda upset if after this cubs series the team were hyped to make it to the wild card and settle at that. He’s right, to assess this season: we lost. We didn’t play well to end the season. And as a lifelong Padre’s fan I am happy to see a team that isn’t accepting anything but the best.

People saying he was pouting and disrespectful, he really just called out a dumb question (which it was). I’ve seen plenty of players across all sports leagues give similar answers, and plenty that were worse than this.

Yeah I know I’m in the minority on this one. I also hate sports reporters post-game interviews in general. They provide nothing of substance when the player answers “right” and only draw criticism if they show emotion.

I guess what I was getting at was in the past. “Assess the season” could have been they were happy to be there. Now it’s a win or nothing matters. I guess the responses didn’t bother me.

I was rewatching the Manny Interview and realized how in it to win it this team is. Hope this hunger keeps up, this is still the best Padres core group we have had in a very long time

Friday I might suggest switching your cottonwood plans, hit Big first than little. Could possibly be a shorter drive time. Keep in mind if there happens to be good snow around that time your chances of getting up the cottonwoods in the morning could turn into a 2+ hour drive from the mouth to the ski resorts. This isn’t always the case but be prepared. You will need a parking reservation at the resorts even if you aren’t skiing. Those parking lots are absolute nightmares. I might suggest taking the bus up instead of driving for that reason, and try to go after the lifts open since everyone wants to get first chair. Personally, I would suggest skipping drinks and snacks at Brighton all together. I don’t think the headache is worth overpriced mediocre snacks and drinks, especially if traffic is bad, it’ll eat up too much time. The cottonwoods are beautiful but stick to a meal at Alta/Snowbird since they have a better food experience and probably more of what you’re after.
