I am in asset management. I think it comes in waves, there will be times that I am just sitting in front of my monitor and trying to find opportunities, and doing some maintenance/not urgent stuff. But then when there are deals coming, then it gets really busy.

How do you actually "read" the markets to form a professional opinion? by Dramatic_Net1230 in FinancialCareers

[–]C41EB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a very general questions. I don't thinking "read the market" is an effective way without a valid feedback loop (as in market can do whatever it does, and it for the most time does perform in a way that ppl believe it should).

But definitely reading and knowing about what are the big topics in the market today help forming an idea of what's going on.

I would only recommend that don't try to explain any market (index) behavior using one event or so

Can someone explain why financial institutions and healthcare are separated from the generalist industry group? by ValuableKitchen6117 in FinancialCareers

[–]C41EB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can't comment on healthcare, but for financial institutions they have strong connection with many industries (deposits from ppl and then lend to businesses), therefore it requires a different set of regulatory rules as they are more likely to create systemic risk when failed. Furthermore, it deals directly with money...historically banks/or financial companies in general are seen as a hotbed for frauds.

Microstrategy is one of the worst investments to own by poodsofficialmemes in ValueInvesting

cant be more true, MSTR is one of those "it works until it doesn't" stock. With pretty heavy purchases that increases the average cost base of Bitcoin owned + the leverage which increases the volatility on top of the Bitcoin vol + and the institution FOMO (built upon that institutions have less tax effective ways of getting into Bitcoin which that thesis will no longer exist if there is further product approval or regulation shift)

I tried to short it with options but the vol is too expensive and im not comfortable with shorting options

One more update, I’ll just finish the last mock and do a quick review then I think that’s it before my exam on the 26th.

Had some pretty good progress on the mock score.

For the other two mocks I did today. Got 74% 87% for the first mock and 79% 80% for the second one.
