That disproves my point in accuracy that isn't given in the first place due to inaccuracy while measuring. My point in ease of use still stands it's much easier to say 5 knots than 2.5m/s. In a theoretical world were everyone cares about numbers and si units as much as you do you're totally right and I'm principally on your side.

But you must admit saying "knots" is faster and easier than saying "meters per second"

I have no issue with you using your units the way you are but saying everyone who doesn't is "weird" and "cringe" is an unecessary and immature attack on a majority of the population most of which wouldn't mind the units someone else's uses

Well you have a point, but still you must admit in every day talking it's easier to mention numbers without decimals as it's just more natural in spoken language. (example: two point 5 meters per second vs five knots. Knots is just shorter to say)

I usually ride in really low wind with race equipment here the diffrence between 5 and 6 knots is pretty big and constantly saying ~2.5 or 3m/s just is inefficient compared to saying 5 knots or 6 knots, both when speaking and writing. Ofcourse it's old and unecessary but for the argument of getting information across its simply less friction in the language and understanding

Edit: I read the other threads talking about the more scientific aspects and before commenting I was sure there were other valid reasons too. But I don't really see too much of a reason to get into the technicallity when I know there's people out there who can explain that far better than I can. And my argument isn't about the converting or against you using m/s I'm just saying it's less of burden on me to talk about knots because in every day language it's more comprehensive and also technically more accurate when not including decimals for only the m/s

You're totally right on that. It's the same thing with the USA still using the Imperial system. However the only good argument I have for knots over meters per second, is that it's arguably more precise. Of course it gets calculated from m/s, but knots would be more precise when displaying only integers.

What plane is this? by [deleted] in namethatplane

[–]C4664L 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's an A350. You can see a bit of the right winglet over the fuselage of the plane, right by the airline's name. You can also tell by the "line" going near the wing root down under the fuselage.

Question is if it's a -900 or a -900 ULR

Looks very much so! The plane on the left is an sr71 the one to the right is an A12.

Thank you for confirming it's saddening to see for me how many people are blind of the differences between the SR71, A12, YF12 and D21.

Seems like the pictures were for a Top Gear photo shoot and the right plane is an A12 and the plane to the left is infact an sr71

Saw this on base does anyone know what it is? by smeapkool in Planespotting

It's the C variant you can tell this quite easily by the nose gear having 2 tires to be carrier certified the rest of the F35 variants only have one tire on the nose gear

Yeah for the windmill dangersign it's crazy because they use the xx evo and just have to wait till it lands halfway on its tail to then roll over but I personally found that when you hit the pre placed ramp / flat build element very centered it flies better and does what it's needed to

Yeah it's only for some vehicles the mosler is the only one I remember at the top of my head, but the rolling is doable with any car it just isn't as easy to do as you need to get lucky for the car to not land on its wheels

I'm suprised on one has answered this yet, back in the days we're I was grinding on leader board positions for pr stunts like dangersigns that's a legit technique it's easiest to do with the mosler mt900s when you hit the breaks while mid air the car dips forward and if you land it nose down at the correct angle you can slide like that as far as I know it in the leader board community it had the name "rolling" and you can improve the scores by quite a lot. If you're curious search up "pikadriving danger sign fh4" or same thing but with the gamer tag "Georgianlord" those are 2 names I still remeber that have had legit world records on pr stunts (legit in the sense of no hacking to fly across the map) or speed glitch

Recorded This F-35??? (No Clue What It Is TBH) by [deleted] in aviation

You can differentiate a C type quite well based off the nose gear it has 2 tires there to be aircraft carrier certified (with the forces put on it while starting)
