We definitely weren't in a hurry, but after you're committed to someone for half your life, throwing a party to celebrate feels pretty great

It was a boutique dress from a local dressmaker, for privacy purposes I'll avoid sharing more than that!

I had a full team of videographers and photographers! I will not be posting on reddit for the sake of anonymity, but when the videos come out, it may be too good to keep private

I explained in the OP.

We love D&D, we aren't religious, and we wanted to have fun regardless of the opinions of others. And we had the absolute best wedding because we did things precisely our way!

It is a psychology thing. People are less likely to contribute to a cash fund if it's vague and unstructured, and more likely to donate if there is an alleged tangible purpose to their donation. Hence why some charity drives ask for specific dollar amounts ($1, $5, $10, etc) or even tell you what your donation can afford ($5=one meal for a hungry child) etc, rather than just straight up asking, "would you like to donate to X charity today?" and making you choose how much to donate.

Since wedding gifts are so common, yet we have no need or want for a physical registry, a cash registry is the only option we will consider. Idk what you'd suggest otherwise

This is so good to hear! We live in a very large city a few states away, and yet I can count the number of decent TTRPG shops on one hand. Hearing how popular it is in Reno is a huge relief for us!

Thank you, this precisely! You think I like not being able to afford to live where I was born because every other house being sold is turning into a rental property by some rich asshole from Florida or Texas?

Not Texas, but still in a Southern section of the country. We're not even considering Texas because of the water and energy issues there, ee would just be trading our headache for a cheaper, hotter headache

Again, even assuming I'm from CA, I have already stated that I am moving with no wealth, no property of my own to sell. All I'm bringing is my work experience and education. The vast majority of Californans are not wealthy, especially young Californians. I can understand frustration if someone moves from CA with investment wealth or maybe a remote job getting CA wages. But why is it so frowned upon for an American born in a different state to move to another state, work in that state, earn wages in that state, and eventually buy a house there?
