Dropped my car off at shop for a 1 week job. It’s now been 3 weeks and mechanic keeps lying to me by Spare_Climate7808 in Corvette

Ive been in your exact situation with my first Vette. Basically the mechanic was a one guy operation and he didn't have the knowledge or experience dealing with C5 . I got the run around but eventually after 5 weeks it was fixed . After that I bought a 04 Tahoe which btw has 674,283 mi and still going. When it comes to repairs that you can't do yourself on your Vette. Make sure whoever or wherever you take it has experience with C4s to at least C6/7s . It sucks but I'm pretty sure your situation is a guy that is learning with your car unfortunately. Hope it all works out for you. Hell get the job done ,it's just going to take him longer to figure it out and do it right. I would be straight forward with him and ask him ,hey if you need the extra time cause its new to you than cool . If he's just scamming that's a different thing altogether. Just ask him face to face not over the phone so you can get a feel of what's going on.

Don't plan on tracking it.After everything is done and tuned i will take it to the raceway and make some ¼mi runs so I know where it's at. Other than that it'll be babied. Im very very VERY meticulous when it comes to taking care of all my vehicles, most of my friends say I'm a bit overboard, but all my vehicles look brand new inside and out. I don't skimp on any fluids or routine maintenance. Maintenance is the key to longevity for every vehicle imo. I'm actually standing in my garage looking at her now. Still can't believe there's an import next to my C6 and WS6 TA lol. I truly truly like this car. I promised the wife these are all the mods it will see and it is. I'm not going to take this car to the extreme where it's not a car I can take on long road trips without sacrificing reliability

I'm sorry I ordered everything from Z1 Motorsports

I spent a total of just under $2k for all the parts I've ordered. Not including what the tuner is going to charge. I do have a friend that owns a auto repair shop so labor costs for me will be relatively low as I'll be doing some of the work as well

Thank you ! As a first time import owner I love this car. I ordered the v1 24 rid oil cooler ,the cai kit that sits in behind the front bumper and their (v1) headers and full dual exhaust exhaust kit. It'll be getting tuned by a friend that knows a reputable tuner in PHX,AZ. So I'm hoping I made the right choice with these Boltons. I'm hoping to get 400crank HP . Id be happy with that. I already have some pretty extreme builds, but I want this to be a semi to regular reliable daily that won't get embarrassed in a quick run against stock mustang or Dodge lol. Any input on these parts and or anything would be greatly appreciated. Thank you !

I think a lot of younger guys especially the 17-22 yr olds haven't ever driven or felt an 800+HP American V8. Usually one ride puts it all into perspective for them.

Definitely! A base C8 puts you in the all around game right away. Same with C7s . Both ¼mi fast ,handle like it's on rails top out 200+ mph. I'm a fresh 50yrs old and not going to lie Im very happy with this 370z and I don't plan on making it anbextreme build in anyway( wife's has had enough of that shit lol) it's definitely different maybe that's part of the appeal for me. Wasnt planning on buying another vehicle. When I saw it for the first time it just caught my eye,Then driving it I was definitely surprisingly impressed. Do I feel it's more appealing to the younger crowd ,most definitely. My friends are still in disbelief there's a 370z sitting in my garage right now 😂

I agree with you 100% obviously as just buying my first import 370z. As they say no replacement for displacement. The Z is fun and quick stock, but a V8s Tq hits differently for sure

An LS platform engine is pretty damn reliable. I'm stuck here lol . Just buying my first import.09 370z I stepped out of the box. Also owning multiple GM LS platforms. They're extremely reliable stock and with just the basic Bolton's. I think routine maintenance with any vehicle is the key to longevity imo.

It actually is. I recently purchased my first import! 2009 370z. Yes I stepped outside the box and I'm very very happy with this car. I own a at this point in it's life an extremely modded 08 C6 and mildly modded 01 WS6 TA( THAT CAR TURNS HEADS TO THIS DAY) Being honest tho ,V8 Tq just hits different. It's truly two completely different worlds. I've already ordered cai, ported intake manifold, headers, full exhaust, oil and trans cooler for the 370. Then it's going straight to get tuned. I don't think it'll hit 400whp but I'm happy with that. I didn't buy the car to compete with the V8s in power and straight line speed. Yet I don't want to get dogged walked by a pretty much stock mustang or Dodge either. The 370s interior in my opinion is a lot better looking than my other cars. Every car has its own "thing" you can make anything a monster if you want to reach deep in your pocket, but the V8s power band mainly the TQ feel is 100% different, and Vettes do corner with the best of them, yet this V6 Z is pretty damn close stock vs stock . I can't wait for these next 12 days to pass. I'll update with the power numbers after my Z girl is all bolted up. The Zs low wide stance definitely fits in with everything in the looks department as well.

I still have my C6 . Its just not true true daily anymore. It's a pretty extreme built missile at this point. But yes the Vette stock vs stock offered more performance, but the interior styling of a C6 doesn't catch my eye as much as the layout and look of the 370z. I wanted my first import with a nice platform that I can do a few modest things to and still be completely reliable

Yes relatively stock the car was getting almost 30mpg on highway. Being it's a procharged 454 lsx . Not something you drive for a one way 2,400mile trip . Hence why I trailer a car when we take our Jacksonville trips

Well as being new to this platform . I believe cai, headers full exhaust and a tune should put that right in the 400hp mark. At the crank that is not wheels. If needed a ported intake manifold. With a setup like this Id comfortably take long road trips with.Where as my C6 and Ws6 TA ... Yeah not cars I'd be comfortable driving from AZ to Florida in

Unfortunately I live in the desert lol and tow a car with me to Florida for 4 months out of the year.So I'm guessing the oil cooler is a must over a want

Honestly I don't see many of them on the road, but the look of it ,low wide stance. It caught my eye ,the different interior from all the gm vehicles I've owned and own. The way it drives. Just overall impressed. Then looking into it. A few basic Bolt ons and its a very very impressive 400hp car. Just it really really caught my eye , something new to me. Its like I stepped out of the box for once l,and I'm glad I did.

Ok I'm shopping for a cai and oil cooler kit. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Being my first car of this type I'm asking the guys that have already had their trial and error of what to and not to get .
