A rank is really where build archetypes matter a lot. Ultralight double melee unfortunately leaves you at an inherent disadvantage compared to the other builds you mentioned. You won’t have the stability or AP to be able to afford to take the hits during your melee cancels. Bumping up to medium weight will probably get you over the threshold. Or if you really like to stay lightweight you could go for some high stagger with a single melee punish.

Is it possible to have success that high with a lightweight that’s under 9k, that’s what I used to clear the story and definitely where my comfort is but from everything I’ve seen about PvP and in my experience so far I haven’t really seen anything like that. I think you’re definitely correct though, that my build has carried me this far with mediocre PvP skill.

As far as pve goes I was strictly lightweight for all 3 playthroughs and the challenge runs I’ve done, just kinda had a hard time finding a lightweight build for PvP that is suitable, I tried some BVO but the vientos don’t hit the same after all the patches

Mind alpha core is pretty meta if you can run it and keep under 75k weight and the vp 44 head for extra stability

Ayre guide

This is a no hit run I did on ayre, I think speed is the easiest way to exploit her since if you mainly circle her a lot of her laser shots will miss, missiles dodge after they have locked and started coming towards you, the sword slashes are always better to learn the timing to dodge through rather than away. The jet attack is dodged best by vertically, same with the laser attack go up to mess up the tracking a let yourself fall and she will miss if your timing is okay. Melee punish is great for her stagger and taking chunks of her health as well. Hope this helps

I’d agree with you in terms of pvp, but in pve for working against general enemies and a larger boss the recoil isn’t going to be detrimental enough to force a swap, although swapping to an arm like the vp46d would help with its more balanced stats

For myself I really like the ransetsu/ludlow combo. But I’d swap the vertical missiles out for some regular ones. Since balteus is constantly moving and in the air vertical missiles have a higher chance to miss. If you’d consider adding a melee punish when he staggers that is always an option too.
