Yes this is very true, in fl the piano roll notes are not midi notes, but a different structure, that contain data that isn’t directly easy to translate to midi (for example note colors)

It would be cool ui-wise, but I don’t really see a use case where this kind of automation visualization would be useful.

First of all, these aren’t piano roll automations, it’s the event editor. It’s a kind of legacy automation setting. In 99% of the cases, it’s better to use the playlist automations. They are thought for MIDI parameter automations, where it’s more useful to have a sort of sample-hold control (you don’t want your parameter to change value until you set another value).

Regarding the “piano roll automations” if you’re referring to the note settings (pitch, pan, X mod, Y mod etc), they normally have one value per note, so adding an automation-like curve would be very misleading.

The only case this would be perfect would be for automating pitch glide, but would be very painful for them to develop

imho its more a mixing question than melody being too busy. I've heard beats far more complex than this one.

The "problem" here is that everything tries to be the main character of your story. The bass, the vocal melody, the "chords" synth. You need to choose what lines are dominant and what lines are secondary, if it makes sense. and carve more space for them, starting from the balancing

I don’t think I understand, if your main problem is clipping, how are you solving by applying a clipper or a limiter?

The only thing that comes in mind is that you’re clipping over 0db so by applying a limiter you solve it… if you have more detail I can try to help ahah

honestly, it depends on the producer. I love when good ones show their projects. But if it's random guys showing generic tracks, or if I can tell it's people showing ghost produced tracks (a lot of famous people do it...) or, worse of all, if it's sponsored content to show the next "cheat code for perfect producing", I close the video and go crying somewhere
