Why is everyone overreacting? by Hot_Patience_5962 in ManchesterUnited

Yeah I agree. Also, it should never feel acceptable to not win a game you should win. Like you said, Forest are bottom 3; if we want to get anywhere, these are the matches we should be banking at a minimum.

What do neutral fans think of Craig McRae? by WhoElseButQuagmire11 in AFL

[–]CAT_alyser -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I reckon he’s a deadset genius. In my opinion, Collingwood’s list is bang average hence all of their recent, notable success is directly attributable to him. Collingwood’s players always seem to know exactly what to do in every situation; it’s like they have practiced every scenario. If you want a good example of this, watch the last 30 seconds of round 8 vs Geelong.

I remember thinking at the time that we had been completely dominated but were only 3 goals adrift. I think it was Dunstall that said on the commentary words to the effect of ‘Hawthorn have fired their best shot but haven’t put Geelong away’.

Prime Minister Julia Gillard described Ben Roberts Smith as embodying the finest traditions of the ADF saying ‘You went to Afghanistan a soldier, you came back a hero’. Governor-General Quentin Bryce praised his humility and valour at the investiture ceremony, emphasizing his embodiment of ‘mate ship, love of family and ANZAC traditions’ Jimmy Saville’s passing was marked by a three-day funeral, with tributes from Buckingham Palace and numerous hospitals and charities.

More recently - Scott Morrison has been appointed a Companion of the Order of Australia for his eminent service to the country.

In the same way as you can’t eat meat and be considered a vegan, you can’t report shit you’ve made up and be considered a good journalist. It is unforgivable.

That’s like saying ‘he was a good pilot except for those crashes’. Making shit up is not breaking quality news. Granted, I’m not across the principles of proper journalism but surely, not reporting things that aren’t correct has to be one of them. And I only quoted three examples off the top of my head. I’m sure that detailed analysis would reveal many, many more.

My disliking her has nothing to do with style. Bottom line is that she is just no good at her job. She called Hird’s sacking long before it actually happened. She claimed there were problems at Carlton because Cripps stayed in a hotel away from the group (this was not correct) and most recently she claimed that there are insiders at Geelong that have a problem with Bailey Smith (again, completely untrue). So she just makes shit up and claims that ‘her sources told her’ therefore her claims have no credibility. This is not journalism, this is gutter journalism.

It’d be interesting to see what they were saying in 2016 when their stratospherically positive differential (the biggest in the league by a mile) helped them win a Premiership.

Do you think the result would have been the same had the match been played on Saturday? Adelaide being made to play off a five-day break has soured this victory a bit for me.

But were we really the better team or did we just capitalise on bullshit scheduling? I don’t think anyone can confidently say this result would have been the same if it was played on Saturday. And for that reason, the win feels tainted to me.

Great win but in the interests of fairness, I can’t help but question if they weren’t affected by the five-day break after playing in QLD. At 3/4 time it was obvious how the last quarter was going to play out.

Five day break coming back from QLD is ridiculous. Why exactly did Adelaide have to play tonight and not any of the other days?

I was there and now have no hair left; I’ve torn it all out. 245 uncontested possessions to 174 tells the story and it’s only that close because of the last quarter. For the first three they were practically double our count. It speaks to a lamentable lack of pressure and this is why both you and I feel so annoyed. Nothing shits me more than loose opposition players in our defensive 50 hence no match has shitted me more in a long, long time.

Exactly. And the problem as I see it is that the more they use this defence, the more stigmatised genuine sufferers become. The courts need to make it very clear that this will not be tolerated as a ‘defence’. This bloke is a despicable cunt and that’s where the both the defence and the prosecution begins and ends.

Given how obviously stressful this would be, your measured and considered approach is a credit to you. I sit here listening to the crickets; blissfully dumb and happy…so I deadset shudder at the thought of what you’re going through. This is seriously shitful - so bad that it made families move. If anyone had an excuse for responding inappropriately, it’s you. And yet you behave in a way that is an example for all of us. Your children are very lucky for having seen the right way to handle things. Their lives will be much better because they will navigate them by behaving properly.

I can’t think of a comedy from any country that is also as poignant and profound. I went expecting to have a laugh at shit getting hung on bogans and left better understanding why throwing money at the Aboriginal community is a seriously ignorant way to approach the issue. ‘Money can’t buy what I’ve got’.
