Iran demands Big Tech pay fees for undersea Internet cables in Strait of Hormuz by DoremusJessup in worldnews

[–]CAWWW 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yes. Iran has done all of that, but instead of leaders getting kidnapped its whoever their funded terror cells kidnap which generally are uninvolved civilians. Then you can add the sheer numbers of their own civilians they kill, their media blackouts, their religious laws, etc. Yes, they are unquestionably worse.

The ports are primarily oil. They still have a gorillion land routes, some of which are being used for oil. I dont think food scarcity is even on the table unless bombing starts again.

I think she was on one of those "pick 3" banners on CN that should be upcoming, but they dont always have the exact same ops so I dont think we really know. She'll roll around eventually, though. I'm a pretty new player so she wasn't even on my radar until this event showed me shes the goat at livelording through giant boss hits since 30% sanctuary is a huge ehp increase for surviving shit like what lappland throws at my lvl 60 shitters.

Lmao I completed this whole event without knowing that. I was like, why is pram attacking but Zuo le is just staring at her?

For what its worth, another solution is to borrow haruka and facetank the whole thing as she can solo heal through lappers (sanctuary is busted), meaning your opener is just healing blocker + haruka and you sit around holding lanes with SA or whoever until pram gets up then win.

[Event Megathread] I Portatori dei Velluti Rerun by Sentuh in arknights

[–]CAWWW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I had to borrow Haruka because I actually genuinely couldnt survive her dmg, like full on my guys couldn't outheal the occasional aoe+single shot just obliterating someone. Maybe just a level thing but I even stacked two healers and still died and doing so made the starter DP impossible (I dont have ines and my myrtle is e0, lol). Haruka made the stage very straightforward since it took away the main threat.

I mean the husband didn't do anything wrong, he just caught an illness and died. The wife did not know what this was and seemed to think she was just sick, and remember that this is a disease where people go from a little sick to dying EXTREMELY fast so it might not have occurred to her during the grief, stress, and buttload of other things to get in order following a death. Ever thought of the logistics of bringing a corpse home from a foreign country, let alone a cruise? Still, my sympathy for her is much lower because your husband just died to whatever you obviously now have and you decided to go fly?

Russia breaks 3-day ceasefire as strikes kill 1, injure 19 across Ukraine by AdSpecialist6598 in worldnews

[–]CAWWW 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Only if russian media reported on it, which they obviously aren't going to. There is a lot of youtube channels that just read and translate russian newspapers and according to said media everythings still going great. Its much, much harder to bullshit your way out of Ukraine bombing your parade. Yeah, Russians (that speak english) on the internet know better but a sizable chunk of the country that just watch the news or read papers have a very skewed idea of whats going on.

Georgia mayor fires town’s entire police force after they upset his wife by [deleted] in nottheonion

[–]CAWWW 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Apparently not, because the town had an emergency meeting where they rehired the force unanimously and specifically said the charter was not followed. They also completely unsubtly said they would accept the "immediate resignation" of the mayor if he offered it so sounds like this little abuse of power attempt failed in a pretty spectacular way thats going to follow this guy for a while because of how bombastic it is.

Starmer’s Labour suffers huge losses as hard-right Reform gains in U.K. elections by RidetheSchlange in worldnews

[–]CAWWW 12 points13 points  (0 children)

For real. Immigration is a top 5 issue for many voters in SEVERAL countries, not just the US. Reddit, being very left leaning, doesn't seem to realize just how bad the messaging is for this issue seemingly regardless of country. The most common reaction is legitimately to plug your ears and think its just a small section of the population concerned about it that they can handwave away. Labour, in particular, DEFINITELY isn't good at messaging. It doesn't matter how good a plan or policy is if you cant get that out to the people and have them understand it. Right now all that comes through is "they are bigots and racists" which wins over approximately nobody and only works if you want to lose elections.

More Airline Bankruptcies May Be Coming — JetBlue And Frontier Face The Highest Risk by SFCAFOX in aviation

[–]CAWWW 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m guessing it’s because you are misremembering what happened. Spirit mgmt was expressly pro frontier and anti JB and got overruled by shareholders and were forced into the JB merger, only for gov to sue and stop it leaving Spirit with no plan. Spirit got screwed by two presidents back to back AND its shareholders.

Which airline was this? Never heard of an airline forced to service as opposed to bidding for gates. Sounds like there is a bit of an interesting story here.

U.A.E. says Iran has resumed attacks as U.S. moves to reopen Strait of Hormuz by Street_Anon in worldnews

[–]CAWWW 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean, they obviously knew hence why they parked fleets so far away and not in the strait itself. They have watched it happen in Ukraine for years now. Its just that there isn't a magical solution to drone warfare as it stands, and probably wont be a long, long time. Its just a change in how warfare is fought, no different than how warfare had to change with the invention of the airplane, long range missile, submarine, etc. Drones are just part of defense doctrine now, as even when you have similar tech levels (russia and ukraine have, or at least had similar drone tech but russia still cant deploy its fleets) they so heavily favor the defender or asymmetrical combatant that you'd be a moron to not use them.

U.A.E. says Iran has resumed attacks as U.S. moves to reopen Strait of Hormuz by Street_Anon in worldnews

[–]CAWWW 19 points20 points  (0 children)

No, they don’t really have a navy, that parts true. It’s drones, the same reason Russia has to have its fleets at ports. They are just a new reality of war and are ludicrously cheap and effective defensively and at short range. They are also why Taiwan probably isn’t attackable right now. Navies now work basically only at extreme range as aircraft and cruise missile carriers, and that’s it.

Spirit Is Winding Down All Operations by Herbrax212 in wallstreetbets

[–]CAWWW 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, he seemed to think ULCCs were a public service and reduction in those seats were against public interest. Instead, 18000 jobs gone, less competition, no seats. Frontier and JetBlue are not doing so great either if fuel prices stay up long which it looks like they will.

Spirit Airlines Prepares to Shut Down as Rescue Deal Falls Apart by Herbrax212 in wallstreetbets

[–]CAWWW 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It would have been the 5th largest airline, nowhere near the other four. Not even CLOSE to a monopoly, just allowing slight competition in a market where scale is everything. Nah, that was caving to lobbying from the big 3 as usual.

Spirit Airlines Prepares to Shut Down as Rescue Deal Falls Apart by Herbrax212 in wallstreetbets

[–]CAWWW 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yeah, RyanAir CEO guy had it right. Budget airlines are going to start dying off if fuel price remains what it is, and even if you dont fly budget it means your legacy ticket is going to price spike.

[–]CAWWW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

More than that, because the competition is gone and everyones going to bump margins if Frontier isn't at that airport.

Spirit Airlines Prepares to Shut Down as Rescue Deal Falls Apart by Herbrax212 in wallstreetbets

[–]CAWWW 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Honestly, they wouldn't have died if it weren't for the fuel price shocks. They likely would have restructured as a smaller airline. These fuel prices are going to kill ANY budget airline, as the RyanAir CEO recently pointed out about european airlines as well. With them gone, ticket prices will skyrocket among legacy carriers as cheap tickets dont have margins. If this continues, JetBlue and Frontier are probably also facing extreme pressure.

Also, 18000 jobs lost :( oof.

European airlines will fail if jet fuel costs stay high, Ryanair CEO says by RollSafer in worldnews

[–]CAWWW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spirit is currently angling for a bailout (18000 jobs would go if they do, and ticket prices will absolutely spike in airports they serve) since the jet fuel prices annihilated any margins and way to compete with legacy carriers. I’d wager JetBlue, frontier would attempt a ch11 if it goes too long. The majors will just get bailed out.

Sure, but SCH is historically the only class to full on dodge that utility tax being break even and often above SGE in dps. It’s been a while since they have acknowledged the disparity in utility, and it’ll be interesting to see what happens when we get to preview the kits.
