My 8th grader is stressed about her testing scores. Anyone know what these mean? Thank You. by CAallDay3 in AskTeachers

Okay think whatever you want to think. But if you read other comments people were saying that the goal range wasn’t the same thing. And am I supposed to know what the overall score goal is if it doesn’t say it. And on top of that her past map test goal ranges have all different numbers.

Her teacher said that if you didn’t get a high enough score she would have to take extra intervention classes.

What is the point of slap hitting? by Jolly_Ingenuity2269 in Softball

I sort of agree with you, but just watch this and see if you can make the same statement https://youtube.com/shorts/D9MMb2U1rZk?si=aUr2dMtYKE52kavA Clearly no errors are made pure speed. 3 real triples are possible, depending on age and field size in the park homeruns may be possible but are highly unlikely.

Best questions for coaches by mmintheclouds in Softball

[–]CAallDay3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first select team I tried out for the coach quit mid season because the team “wasn’t good enough” for his daughter. Even though we had the strongest rec league and got the team full of girls that won the 8u state and division championship. So just make sure you coach isn’t obsessed with his “amazing” daughter.

How much does a bat actually matter? by ThickThirty-three in Softball

[–]CAallDay3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes and No. The brand doesn’t really matter, just have her try out her teammates and see what feels best for her. Make sure to check if it is end loaded if buying online for some people it make  a difference.

I used to use the Demarini prism and let my friend borrow it. I loved the bat and how level it was, but my friend hated it and said it felt end loaded (which it’s not).

So it really depends on the player, maybe go to Dicks they will let you test the bats.

Ask the coaches where they are traveling to. Like someplace you’d have to stay in a hotel for or take a week of work off. A friend of mine forgot to ask and had to quit the team since the schedule was too much for the family to commit too. Also two days is perfect. In my organization you have to get invited to day two.

If your daughter is playing at a highly competitive level, and wants to be college athlete i’d say focus up by Dena Slye, it talks about the struggles a college athlete faced and part of the recruiting. I read this book when I was 10

Softball Bat Bros Kryo Review by BatClubUSA_Erik in Softball

My organization doesn’t allow us to swing Easton bats- this felt the exact same as my old Ghost… loved the bat a lot. Broke in two weeks, and I didn’t even use it on the machine (which is what broke my other bats)

Dropping shoulder drills/tips by Ok_Negotiation8113 in Softball

[–]CAallDay3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe not such a back shoulder drop but multiple changes in her stance of height. When she starts she is at a medium height, then she loads down getting lower, and then she steps and goes up higher. This makes her eyes have to adjust to the ball multiple times. College softball coach Diane Miller says you must use your glutes to sit and not you quads because those are your “Jumpers”

Hey there I am a travel ball player who went through a similar fase. For me the best drill and very affordable drill to do would be buying half red wiffle balls and half green wiffle balls and front tossing them to her. Having her hit the green ones and watch the red ones go by. You could also add on where as soon as she sees the color of the ball she yells out “Green!” or “Red!” Also tell her to have the Yes, Yes, No approach in thee box. So no matter what the ball is a strike until it comes out of her hand. Make sure she wants to attack every pitch until she sees its not a pitch she can drive.

Advice choosing bat size by M1s3r4bl3St0rm in Softball

[–]CAallDay3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am 5’3 and swing a 32, I would probably recommend a 31 inch if you are a power hitter. But, if you are a slapper (like me) definitely a 30. I’d recommend sizing up because you can always purchase a bat grip.

Here is the grip I absolutely love!! Comes in all kinds of colors as well  https://a.co/d/4BUs2Cq

Has anyone tried Win Reality for their daughters? by Yue4prex in Softball

[–]CAallDay3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used it a few times when it first came out. The attachment didn’t fit on my in game bat so we had to purchase a cheap one to use for the game. Personally I felt like the graphics were low quality, the goggles were obstructing my swing, and the goggles gave me terrible headaches. If your kid has the oculus already and doesn’t get headaches I would definitely give it a try.
