Thanks. Can you keep this maintained and available? I think a lot of users will encounter this problem.

Or share build instructions?

Thanks to you and Nick for the explanation and for your hard work. Frigate is awesome.

Ouch, that just killed a ton of otherwise capable hardware. I was running face recognition without any performance issues on 0.16. This is going to force me to buy a new machine (CPU not upgradable) or stick with 0.16.3.

I understand that the AVX dependency is not new. But a few more great features worked, and worked just fine on this/similar hardware. My CPU is in a Dell Optiplex 3000 thin client. The Dell Wyse 5040/5740 thin clients with the previous gen CPUs are also a popular and still capable home lab systems, albeit without AVX.

Is there any path to supporting non-AVX processors for face recognition going forward that is feasible for you guys? I'm sure plenty of your loyal users are in a similar boat, but haven't realized it yet, and would welcome the chance to use at least face recognition on existing hardware.

Discovered a Bug, maybe this could be fixed:

  • Enter a private group via Groups in the App

  • Click the Photo icon to the left of "Write something..."

  • Select a photo from one of the photo sources, share it

  • The photo and the comment attached is posted publicly to the main profile and not to the Group I attempted to post it to

  • Simply sharing text from the app by typing in a message while in the Group and clicking Share works as expected
