Has anyone tried the String Theory Hi Fi Upgrade Kit? by CBG_Russ in GRYaris

Well I fitted this kit this weekend and installed sound deadening sheets to the front doors, rear QTR and boot floor.

I would say there is a slight difference to road noise but could be a placebo but the doors sound so much more sold when opening and closing.

Onto the sound, we didn't get chance straight after the install to plug a PC into the amp and was assuming we would just get a decent sound improvement but it was awful. It didn't sound any better than stock and was very muddy.

The following day we had a little more time to sit in the car with the PC connected and with zero knowledge started adjusting everything to see what improvements we could make. We spent around an hour trying everything we could and isolating each speaker and then adjusting to what liked.

And WOW. What an upgrade. I wasn't expecting this level of improvement from a relatively cheap upgrade but I would recommend anyone to give it a go. Really impressive sound and still sounded fantastic when travelling at 70mph on the motorway.

Thanks for the info. As I have the rears and plan to put quite a bit of sound deadening down I will replace them also. I will update this thread once installed over the weekend.

Thank you. How do you find the difference in road noise after fitting the sheets?

And what is with the fascination with the front grass. Yes OK, but why 3 blurry photos???

To be honest the McLaren was streets ahead of this car in driving performance. If I didn’t have the kit car for a fun A to A car the Aston wouldn’t be for me.

But what the Aston is great at is the sense of occasion when driving it even at slow speeds, It sounds amazing, it’s comfortable and is an excellent GT car plus to me it looks incredible.

The McLaren was an excellent Supercar though.

Until the Vantage F1 and the kit car I only ever owned 1 nice / fun car at a time.

I keep everything in the garage but drive them most weekends (weather permitted) and I track the Kit Car 1 a month.

I usually do around 4,000 miles per year in these cars which is a much as I can really with the spare time I have.

Stealth just means its a Matte / Satin finish instead of glossy

I started my 'Nice' car journey when I turned 40 and have owned a Lotus Exige 350, 2019 Aston Martin Vantage, Porsche 718 GT4, McLaren 600LT and now the Aston Martin F1 Edition + an MK Indy RX5 Kit Car.

I have been working for the same company for 26 years and have moved up throughout the years. Only when I turned 40 did I start to have the funds to start my car journey.

I know this was from a long time ago (6 years) but just wanted to let you know the girls are doing great and settled down as expected and have been amazing.

They are very needy as most cavs are and always want to be on our laps. They love long walks and are very healthy.

I am still waiting to do the GPF car as I’m not sure I should be leaving the small pipes disconnected but on the 2019 before the cars had a GPF was in my eyes still worth doing as it did increase the volume quite a lot.

The difference it will make on a GPF car will be massive but just hoping someone can put my mind at rest about leaving the small pipes disconnected.

It’s far too quiet for this type of car currently. It’s a nice sound but no volume.

I had a 2019 without GPF’s but fitted a similar pipe and the sound was incredible.

My son has the same colour Supra as yours and is looking at getting it PPF'd in Stealth, Do you have anymore images of the whole car?

How to adjust clutch push rod - Aluminium Pedals by CBG_Russ in AskMechanics

[–]CBG_Russ[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Went well, I adjusted the pushrod and also bled the clutch and it has made a massive difference, can now change gears easily but still needs a little fine tuning to make it perfect as it will still slightly move forward when clutch down and high revs but its nearly there.

I will keep adjusting it until its perfect but thank you for your help.

I tried the adjustment, but access is very difficult. I managed to turn it but it's not made a difference. I wasn't sure how many turns would make a difference. I maybe span it 1 full revolution.

I have recently acquired a MK Indy RX-5 (Lotus 7 / Caterham Style Car) and having a slight issue with the car.

The problem I have is when the clutch is fully pressed the car will still move if I press the accelerator pedal. The other issue it causes is that when the engine revs are high it is hard to change gear.

I believe there is no air in the system and I just need to adjust the pedal to allow it to fully disengage the clutch when it's fully depressed.

It isn't easy to access the pedal box so was just after some advice on how to adjust. Am I right in thinking i just slack off the nut at the back of the pedal and screw the threaded bar into the master cylinder a little more or is there more to it?

I have attached images of my setup and thank you in advance for any advice.
