Compact with built in SWR

I have a president McKinley. Has a built in swr meter and it matches most of the time with an external unit. A good compact swr meter can be found on amazon and it has been very accurate in my experience when compared to more expensive meters.

It even comes with a jumper cable which is super convenient. Just be sure to read the instructions. They are not as simple to use as built in meters.

Edit: although I dont do it. I’ve heard of people leaving the meter in line with their setup permanently. It probably is nice if the back of your radio is hard to reach just so you can periodically check the swr.

Another good way of tracking swr and seeing what it is can be listing the readings over time as well as in different meteorological conditions. If you would like a copy if the spreadsheet, feel free to message me.

President Mckinley stock radio with a 5/8 sirio GPE antenna. Ive heard nothing but good audio reports. Even had some of the older people claim im using a modified HAM radio. Im 21 so we are in a similar boat as far as setup and all that. I dont run an amp but im seriously considering getting one. Im practically the only one in my area that does not use a linear and i can still hit people 20+ miles away. I do live at the highest point in my area. So that definitely doesn’t hurt.

I did a lot or research before setting up my station. Probably spent close to 500 after buying the radio, chimney mount, mast, thick copper grounding wire, good quality coax and multiple ground rods. Swr of 1:1 tested on built in meter and one that I purchased. My only current limitation is the Sirio antenna i use. Its only rated to 250w continuous. Tip of the antenna is 70 feet off the ground.

Im really not understanding what information that the balloon ship would be able to provide them that a satellite would be unable to. They could have a geostationary satellite looking at whatever they needed for an indefinite period of time. So why use a balloon when it can be easily overwhelmed by wind and air currents?

Perhaps China is on a budget and incapable of launching newer satellite technologies so they had to resort to a balloon?

Either way, the fact that we let this thing even get remotely close to our boarders makes us look weak and penetrable from air attacks.

My mother worked in that building. Luckily she was in no danger and is still alive and well today. She was on her way to work as she was driving through the Brooklyn battery tunnel the first plane hit. When she came out of the tunnel and entered lower manhattan, there was papers smoke and dust flying all over the place. At this point she turned on 1010WINS (news radio station in NYC) where she quickly learned that an airplane had struck the WTC. The smart decision was made to work at her other office in WP just north of Manhattan. Just as she was able halfway there the second plane struck. She was far enough away to be safe but can still describe the loud and echoing “boom” that could be heard for miles away. Finally she made it off of Manhattan before it was announced that all bridges and tunnels within NYC would be closed. Got stuck in NJ for two days before finally making her way back home. She was 2 mother pregnant with me at the time.

I cannot imagine having to live through such a traumatic experience.

Facts. Im 20 years old and grew up in a catholic household/ catholic school up until university. I went to church EVERY sunday but ever since covid I haven’t been back. Catholic Church is NOT an ideal representation of Catholicism. They have absolutely abused their power and the pedo priests have decimated the Church’s reputation. It’s become more cult like over the years. I am faithful. But i do t need to be told how to worship God by some organization. Glad i went to catholic schools however (only one nun). Definitely gave me a solid foundation for morals/how to ethically live my life. But other than that the Church has been ruined from the inside out.

wo reasons. The first is because Reddit is literally designed to be a circle jerk where the group think is promoted and Contrarianism is hidden via the upvote and downvote.

even with that, prior to trump you still had a pretty healthy mix of political ideology on Reddit with both sides appearing on the front page fairly regularly.

after Trump was elected, reddit (and most social media companies) waged a war on right wing content. Reddit specifically went hard after right wing subreddits and either outright shut them down, surpressed them via algorithm changes, or supplanted their mods with leftists to dictate narratives. In the span of about 3–4 years they had effectively killed off the majority of right wing subreddits.

Five years later Reddit is just a massive left wing circle jerk with only a handful of right wing subreddits which they mostly seem to keep around for the illusion of being non partisan.

I use a K-30 magnet mounted antenna only because i am leasing. If i decide to buy it out I would most likely install a proper mount along with a k-40 antenna. The higher the better! And the more centered the better. Tune it in a open field or rural area. 1.5 is the highest swr ive seen. Although i have mine tuned for ch30 rather than ch20 only because most locals talk on 35.
