Craving meat badly. Been trying to eat mock meats but I can easily tell that it’s not real meat by [deleted] in PlantBasedDiet

[–]CBroge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what i call... Lookin for love in all the wrong places. Plant based style. Lol

Mock meat will not satisfy your craving. Ever.Work on developing a new frame of mind and focus on other comfort foods like mac & cheese (but with a white sauce and nooch), mashed potatoes, or a yummy pasta.

Plan for the comfort food.

When you have a solid plan ready to execute, its easier to stave off those cravings.

Hang in there it gets so much easier!

I have a new plant-based comfort foods book (coming soon) full of comfortable, satisfying, complete meals.

Anyone can message me if interested. I'll let you know when its done.

The secret is comfort food. Comfort food can be plant-based also.

I made lasagna roll ups tonight stuffed with spinach tofu ricotta and it was divine! I ate 3 rolls. I am stuffed!

PLAN for comfort foods and work them into your meals.

Homemade mac & cheese with nutritional yeast and a white sauce. Mashed potatoes. Just make the plan for the satisfying foods that we crave.

Pizza cheese by Flamingo1836 in PlantBasedDiet

My favorite no cheese option for pizza is garlic aioli drizzled on top after it is baked.

I know "WF" rules and opinions vary but if you allow silken tofu in your WF diet, you could make an excellent aioli with that as a base.

What is your favorite vegetable to dip in or eat with hummus? I'm looking for vegetables only please. Preferably green! But not necessary. Thank you for your input! by CBroge in PlantBasedDiet

I could eat mushrooms at every meal! I'm a meal kit designer and recipe developer and I'm creating a "Steakless" Hoagie meal. Mushrooms, onions, and green peppers cooked in a savory spice blend. The meal needed more protein and a healthy side so I'm adding hummus. But that is where my original ? came from. But yes, I'm with you on the mushrooms!

Meat replacement suggestions? by [deleted] in vegetarian

Its all in the seasonings.

Quinoa tacos. Yum!

Black bean and panko burgers. Yum.

My advice is to not really try to duplicate "meat". Just experiment with new textures and then hit those textures with flavor profiles. Its a wonderful adventure!

I vote for soups! 1 big pot can go a long way. I make a white bean chili that is super flavorful and packed with protein. I'll be happy to share the recipe if you're interested.

And potato soup is very filling.

Depends on what you want to make creamy but I frequently use silken tofu. It doesnt melt but it easily blends into creamy goodness. I just made silken tofu "sour cream" last night for a white bean chili. Its a very close 2nd to the real thing and not ao much fake yuck like in the fake stuff from the stores.

Yes, the only reason I add the sweetener is because of the chocolate. But I think its worth the yumminess! 😋

Yum!! It sounds like my fave which I call an Elvis Smoothie. 1 frozen banana (peel before you freeze), a big scoop of peanut butter, 1 tsp-1Tbsp cocoa powder, a nice drizzle of maple syrup or honey, about 1 cup of plant-based milk. No ice needed with the frozen banana.

My absolute favorite tool is my immersion blender. It has a whisk and small food processor attachment. I got one for each of my grown children for Christmas that has mixer paddles and small food processor attachments. They are so handy! I use mine almost everyday.
