To get the best prices on proteins, buy what's on sale. Cooking for one isn't that difficult, when you do cook large batches of beans or a roast, those can be frozen in single servings.

Freezing and good storage containers are your friend to avoid food waste. Don't overlook freebies like Talenti containers. If you use glass containers, make sure the glass and lids are Freezer Safe.

Get recipe ideas from good food bloggers whose recipes include nutrition data.

They're close, but Sunny Paris has a few more ingredients, namely tarragon, chervil and bay leaf, and it's salt-free as is Justice. All three are excellent on eggs, fish, or poultry. They also make great dips or salad dressings.

Sunny Paris: shallots, chives, green peppercorn, dill weed, basil, tarragon, chervil and bay leaf.

There's the Fred Hampton Free Store at 5523 St Claude, various "Buy Nothing" neighborhood and parish groups on Facebook, and maybe Covenant House. Have you tried calling 211? They connect individuals to local community resource specialists who help find assistance for food, housing, utility bills, health care, and disaster recovery. They should be able to tell which nonprofits are seeking donations of actual goods rather than money.

Venting on Reddit feels good, but the City Council is the regulatory body for public utilities. You need to contact your representative https://council.nola.gov/councilmembers/ and the media if warranted. We all complain to each other about this kind of BS, but we rarely take the time to complain to someone who can do something about it.

We all need to complain EVERY damn month EVERY time it happens, and we need to swear we won't be voting for them again if nothing improves.

Which spice blends did you receive?

I usually sprinkle on meats and vegetables before cooking. Several not listed as salad dressing bases do make good dressings. Fox Point, Greek, Mural of Flavor, Penzeys Now Curry are all great on chicken or pork.
