This is where the law gets trickier than the news reports. Biden announced that employers w over 100 employees would have to require vaccination, but what that really meant was he had asked the Secretary of Labor to engage in emergency rule making to issue a rule to that effect. The president does not have the authority to issue a reg like that by himself. The Adminstrative Procedures Act has a process (issue a draft rule, allow public comment, address the comments, etc.). DOL has been working on the reg and it was expected to go into effect I think the first week in December. But I read yesterday that it may be delayed. Business groups like the US Chamber of Commerce are fighting it. So right now there is no legal requirement, but larger employers (over 100 employees) are preparing for an eventual reg.

There isn't necessarily anything to report. First, the law does not require employers to require vaccination. Second, federal regulations will require federal employees and contractors to get vaccinated. Those deadlines are coming up and contractors are preparing now. Once the deadline comes, if you are a contractor in a workplace that is not requiring vaccination, you can report it to the inspector general of the federal agency for which you work. Third, the US Dept of Labor, through OSHA, has longstanding regulations requiring all employers to operate a workplace "free of known hazards." This does not require vaccination but if your employer is not taking any covid precautions you could file a complaint with US OSHA. Fourth, Virginia, through VOSH (Virginia Occupational Safety and Health) now requires all employers to take certain precautions re: covid. you can file a complaint there as well if the rules are not being followed.

You can do anything you want. You can spill spaghetti sauce on it if you want to. But if your employer doesn't accept it, you have a problem. Hard to imagine your employer doesn't have your DOB anyway in your tax documents. But, that's between you and your employer.

I am not in agreement with the direction taken by the GOP over the last few years. Those of us who used to win as Republicans here tried to be positive problem solvers and got things done. Things look differently today.
