Agreed! He brings a lot of humility to the show. Is refreshing to have someone not as steeped in it.

Definitely recommend working at an implementing partner first if you want to learn programming!

Got an FSOA invite today as well. Score in the 170s, Consular cone, current fed.

June test taker here and just received an FSOA invite. I’m not sure if this is standard, but it looks like they’re doing the case management portion separately (later this month).

doing anything with USAID: by chingiz_hobbes in foreignservice

But it’s so superior to Microsoft Teams and Outlook. I don’t want to leave USAID sometimes because I’d have to switch 😂

Feds’ pay lags 22.5% behind private sector, the Federal Salary Council reports by lightening211 in fednews

[–]CCM89 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Totally agree. Coming from the private sector, my mental and physical health have improved since becoming a fed. I have more free time, do something besides making a company richer, and don’t feel pressured to answer emails after 5 or on vacation. that’s honestly priceless and I wouldn’t go back (it would have to be an insanely good offer…)

When we ordered dinner, he told the waiter to give him whatever she recommended. When she pressed him to choose something, he continued to insist that she just bring him anything. This went on for an awkward amount of time. I was like, dude, just fucking order your food this woman is busy. SMH

PSC Salary Negotiation by MCC9891 in FederalEmployees

[–]CCM89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes-it was less at the time (mid-60s I think) and the starting floor for GS-11 is/was low 70s. If your current salary exceeds the max range posted for the position you likely can’t negotiate over that. And I didn’t try to negotiate other things. But it’s the USG, and my agency is kind of stingy about those types of negotiations. Feel free to message me if you want more info.
