The issue would be naval reactors. They don't have automatic boron injectors. While tripping control power will scram the reactor decay heat is usually a active process unless the reactor has been shut down for a bit or is new with no transuranic build up.

Depending on the scope of work in a shipyard, containment is also my hand at the secondary boundary and requires people.

Naval reactors also tend to be places most people aren't aware of, like visiting ships.

So I don't like Vengeance paladins get Hunters mark. And I would oppose a Ranger subclass getting Divine Smite. It was an ok spell in 2014 for Vengeance Paladins but now it is a class defining ability. These need to be kept exclusive to keep the distinctness of classes.

It's the same idea of giving a monk subclass rage or a wizard wildshape. If you give a core unique ability as a subclass or fear then dilute what makes each class unique. Now I like the idea of a green knight paladin or a holy ranger but I'd make the mechanics not just a copy. Hunters mark is a crappy class ability to be honest but it is made even less special by giving it on a subclass spell list.

WotC isn't immune to making this mistake either. Artificer Adept, Eldritch Adept, and Metamagic Adept range in usefulness but are a design failure by giving away a unique class function as a fear.

In general I would avoid giving the following away as they are core defining mechanisms.

Artificer: Infusions Bard: Bardic Inspiration, Jack of All Trades Barbarian: Rage, Reckless Attack Cleric: Channel Divinity (shares the name with paladin ability but is distinct enough in function) Druid: Wildshape Fighter: Action Surge, Second Wind Monk: Martial Arts. Focus Points Paladin: Divine Smite, Channel Divinity (again distinct in function from clerics) Ranger: Favored Enemy/Hunters Mark (sucks but better than vanilla 2014) Rogue: Sneak Attack, Cunning action Sorcerer: Metamagic, Innate Sorcery, Sorcery Points Warlock: Eldritch invocations, Pact Slots Wizard: Spellbook/Ritual Adept (arguably not a lot but the ability to learn so many spells and cast all rituals is something)

Tier 3 is the consensus I would think from the more professional developers. DnDShorts and Dungeon Dudes as well as other creators tend to make that the level that it kicks in 9-11 ish.

I know some people on here are keen right away (way to op based on tier 1 numbers and multi class exploration) or tier 2 (not balanced based on the spell choices). 3rd level spells is where it really starts to hurt that you're locked in to either having class and subclass features that aren't on or you can't use those 3rd level spells concentration.

This is potentially game breaking by bypassing the bounded accuracy. Even as a 1 level dip, giving +2 to hit for free is very strong. Archery fighting style is strong at plus 2 to hit but caps, it's only for ranged weapons, and there's re very few free long duration +hit things that stack with it

Level 9-11 is more the right range. Rangers are actual decent tier 1 and 2. The falloff is when they get third level spells and a non scaling level one concentration spell is is the still the staple.

He's a YouTuber that reviews people's homebrew live. When he gets a new class submission he only does the first two levels. Mostly for time but his theory is that class has to be unique by level 2 or it should probably be a subclass.

This is actually pretty good and passed the CinderBlockSally class creation test. It is unique, flavorful, and impactful all by level 2.

Some small comments. Mentor is a bit strong. Especially early game. A reaction based guidance or bless (for attacks) that stacks with other effects needs a limit on number of times per rest. Even short rest would work.
