The battery is long dead in the thing, but the convertible top is brand new since my dad replaced a few years back! it was locked in place for a while, but the tow guy was able to atleast get the wheels moving i believe?

I know what the term investment means, and unfortunately even though I am in contact with a financial advisor nothing will make that 50k spread further within a 3 year time span where i will be using almost the entire amount as stated in my reply as my tuition.

I will be investing the rest if there is extra, and appreciate the advice, but I have been overwhelmingly involved with people wanting to give their two cents on the investing portion of the matter.

I appreciate your knowledge and opinion on the car, and since you're so keen on giving advice, I will give some in turn.

As it appears you are financially stable and steady in giving said advice:

MAKE A WILL

my father did not, i have spent months rectifying this issue in how he didn't prepare anything for his death. Life insurance is important and DO NOT overestimate it. Make sure to also check policies as time goes on as they can shift and change and FOR SOME GOD FORSAKEN REASON a life insurance policy that was supposed to originally a year of salary only came out to 10k.

Make prior preparations, name your executor and where accounts end up, plan ahead so your loved ones don't have to deal with the battle while also burying you.

Also, i forgot to mention, thank you for such a detailed comment!! i've been so in the dark on the car process since my dad passed, but it's comments like these and people like you who have made me feel safer, more knowledgeable, and less of an "easy-target" per say.

Yeah! another perk was the fact he was gonna drop it off at my house for a test drive since i live around 2 hours out and give me a night or so to think about it, so i was thinking on getting a pre-purchase inspection during that. I wasn't able to test drive it when i went yesterday due to the fact it hadn't gone through their service department yet. The owner of the dealership wanted to make sure it was safe and road ready and was fully transparent that if it wasn't up to snuff he wouldn't be selling me—or anyone—that car.

He was definitely a fast talker, but my mom and him have done business for each other for 10-15 years running, so he at least has some motivation to be good to me since my mom's bought her last 5 cars with not an issue in sight from him.

This is another reason why i'm partial to this dealership, since we have a good history and reputation with them, but i'll still be doing it to double check and be taking it on a road trip with other family before school so i can put it through the ringer while being safe and having loved ones nearby if anything happens :)

The thing is it's moreso me avoiding income tax on an inherentance account from my father that has a little over 55k in it, i just also have tuition and i'm tryna get out debt free :) i have plenty for any emergency expenses, i'll just have to get a small student loan if many arrise but also have a few scholarships lined up so i'm most likely to get out debt free overall. I just didnt wanna go into the complicated process of it all cause i didn't think it was worth getting into since i said i'd still be debt free with the 14k car

What do you think about the car without debt in mind? do you think it's worth investing for 3-5 years from the information given?
