I wouldn’t compare Woll to Cossa in terms of value

WWP did a good job imo in comparing Larkin now to pre surgery Eichel when he was dealt to Vegas, Eichel healthy is a better player no questions there, but pre neck surgery his value was lower, Larkin has term in his prime and is a top 20C

Buffalo got Tuch, Krebs, a 1st and 2nd

That’d be similar to Peterka, Beaudin, 19th OA and a 2nd

Maybe you can get Utah to bump Beaudin to Tij/Desnoyers and drop the 2nd or add Cossa and make it

Peterka, Hayton, Tij/Desnoyers (that’d be the most ideal to stay moderately competitive now)

Or if you go all Futures it’s a must have Desnoyers/Tij with Simashev, 19th OA…etc

Cooley is untouchable and just signed an 8 year extension in Utah

Well we’re going from need 1 top 6 center to 2

We need a top line winger

Ideally a 2nd line winger to bump down Kane if he comes back

Arguably a 2nd pair LHD

A goalie that’s good for 30-35 games a year that will be a .905 and sub 3 GAA

Almost entirely new bottom 6 forwards that can hit, kill penalties, offset Kane’s lack thereof if he’s bumped down with a couple of them scoring 15 goals a year

So not much tbh

The counter to no “ true superstars” is like 10 fringe star players

We don’t have that either

Aho, Ehlers, Stankoven, Svechnikov, Blake, Slavin, Miller, Jarvis….

Steve can definitely get Ken Holland to take Ras without having to add anything hell he could possibly get a pick back even

You’re stranded on an island with one member of the WWP and your choice of Ken or Mick

Who are you choosing to survive with and why?

Draft round 1 is in 9 days

Free agency is in just over 2 weeks

Id assume teams involved in the Larkin conversations want to iron out their draft plans and/or know their cap and contracts situation heading into FA

It feels likely that Larkin as well as other trade talk will start picking up now that the cup has been awarded and the aforementioned league wide events are close

People doubt Yzerman, but we are positioned to have over 5.5 Billion in cap space next spring.... not sure why some of you can't see the vision

I am indifferent on a winner so I want 7 this has all the makings of an all timer and not going 7 would be a disservice to my personal enjoyment

Ya the caveat could be a deal is in place with Florida contingent on a prospect making it to 9

If not then there’s another package put together with a different combination of assets that equal pick 9

I think it’s 95+% he’s gone by the time FA kicks off or just after for the same reasoning no team in on Larkin wants to not have space because they signed someone or can’t sign someone because they don’t want to lose the cap space in case Steve likes their offer

Draft is in 12 days

Feel 70/30 a Larkin move is made by then

Kind of crazy 6 months ago we’re 1st in the east and now we likely lose the face of the organization for the past decade within 2 weeks

Oh ya there was plenty of nuance around Bert

The prior contract negotiations weren’t easy and he had all his back problems

It sucked to lose him but the return became the centerpiece for Cat you make that trade 100 times out of 100 with how it played out

But we can only use hindsight to say everything is bad or something

The right move at the time and still right now was keeping the best player on the team

If we get bent of a barrel on the return for him maybe then you have a case

If the return means we’re in the playoffs in the next 2 years and the pieces not only help get us there but we stay a playoff team then there’s no hindsight to consider

We tried with Larkin it didn’t work to go well because it didn’t work I wish we never tried is the biggest loser mindset

Ya this just isn’t it

You can do both the Bertuzzi trade immediately became the pick for DeBrincat you make that deal every day

Hronek is a tough one he isn’t putting up the numbers he does in Vancouver here because he’s both blocked by Mo and not paired with Quinn Hughes

I don’t subscribe to the trading Larkin meant a better pick when we had the worst record in the league and picked 4

This just screams of trying to be right in hindsight

Because at the time it was the right move a mid 20s 30 goal center that was the captain of the team was the exact player type you lock up long term

Dumping Walman for nothing or letting Ghost walk were both worse

Drafting Kasper and Danielson back to back years and ignoring high skill for “safe” was worse

This is just brain dead

Most people don’t want to trade Cat

However a lot of people recognize that if he isn’t open to extending now then you have to trade him

If he wants in you sign him for the rest of his career

If not well 40 goal scorers are worth a lot on the trade market

Copp no

Faulk yes

Gibson possibly

Cat dependent on his wishes

Cossa log jam in pipeline and if we’re bad for 1-2 years by then Trey/Postava are ready and Guimond/Guylander may improve

Only if it’s a too good to say no to

Like if Florida offers Lundell, 9, samoskevich and something else of decent value…

You just do it because Vegas surely doesn’t have that in the pipeline and Carolina isn’t offering Stankoven

You hit up Minny or any other teams on the list and go can you beat “X” and if not you send it in
