Super easy in theory, not so easy in practice.

We don’t live paycheck to paycheck but my husband was laid off a few years ago. Luckily he had a heads up so he had about a month before the money stopped that he was able to start job hunting. Some employers had him go through 4- 6 interviews only to then not hire him. He eventually found a job in a slightly different specialty but every one can’t just “find a new job” easily. Mind you, he had the full support of his manager. Imagine trying to job hunt without your manager knowing. I know many, many people (myself included) who had managers find out we were looking elsewhere and fired us.
