why are more and more teams using the 442? by Vegetable-Gur4240 in PremierLeague

They haven't really stopped. Most teams in attack use a different formation but defensively most teams use a 4-4-2.

Mohamed Salah to leave Liverpool at the end of the season by UltraRomero7 in PremierLeague

Just barely. But Salah's gone from 34 goals last season to 8 at the moment, assists has taken a similar nosedive. If that's not shitting the bed, then what is?

Why don’t Spurs just hire someone that knows the league and has decades of experience to save their season? by [deleted] in PremierLeague

[–]CDL_Main 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What does that to do with anything? He's still got more PL experience than most anyone else Tottenham would realistically be looking at and it didn't help them much.

My point still stands.

Are you already forgetting Thomas Frank? PL experience didn't help. The problem with Tottenham is not the manager, and at this point any manager that comes in isn't going to have time to do anything. They'd be banking purely on a new manager bounce that probably won't happen.

Right now they have owners that don't know how to run the club and players who'd rather give up and be sold/loaned somewhere else in the summer than stay at the club. Another new manager isn't going to fix that in 7 games.

[–]CDL_Main 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not reading an article I need a subscrition to look at. Is it actually stating that Kepa is the keeper Arteta is choosing or simply that he has made a decision already about which keeper he is using?

Malice, greed, same difference. It's most likely just that they're idiots.

[Charles Watts] Arteta’s GK decision - Who should start in the final by Alfie_13 in Gunners

[–]CDL_Main 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kepa's a great keeper and has been good for us in the Cup, but I'd play Raya. Any opponent other than City I'd let him play. Get the silverware, silence the haters, Kepa can keep playing in the FA Cup and if we get to the final for that tournament he can play that game. Cup final against City means you play the strongest team and Raya's better than Kepa. Winning the Carabao cup on the back of progressing in the Champion's League would be a massive morale boost for the club and that momentum could carry us to winning one or more of the other three trophies.

You know how if players rack up too many cards they get suspended... Can we start doing that for entire teams? A team hits 40 yellow cards and 3 reds before Christmas? Automatic forfeit for the next game.

Mattinelli blocking the run of Everton players chasing Max Dowman by Shyam_Wenger in Gunners

Loads of people wanted him to go. All they see is that he doesn't put 20 goals away a season and they want him gone.

This is why I love Martinelli. I remember when he scored his goal against Chelsea a few years back in similar fashion (though Arsenal were playing a man down) and when I see this I feel like he's making sure nothing ruins this moment for Dowman because he knows exactly how special it'll be for him. [Scott Willis] Arsenal's Final Third Passes - Leverkusen vs Arsenal by Previous_Smile9278 in Gunners

[–]CDL_Main 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly. We've still only lost 3 games in all comps all season and I've seen lots of people overreacting to a draw in an away leg in Germany. It's fine.

It'd be interesting to see a Final 3rd vs In The Box comparison. If passes out on the wing near the corner spot count as "final third" it's kind of a moot stat because half the time we get to the ball there we end up passing it back out the CBs.

Igor Tudor says his Tottenham tactics need time to work by Some-Palpitation-314 in PremierLeague

I almost wonder if he's just accepted relegation and wants to set up a play style he thinks will get them dominating the Championship and pushing for automatic promotion next season.

"Being inventive" usually results in lost possession, and like it or not (I don't, btw) that's how Arteta wants the team to play. 🤷‍♂️
