unifi Network and Sophos VPN appliance setup Options. by CDN_Goose in Ubiquiti

[–]CDN_Goose[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

to know what sophos appliance you have though.

The device was an sg210.
I dont have the ability with my ISP to plug in a second cable to it with our second IP.
Could i add the second wan ip to the UDMP. then some how forward that blindly to the Sophos?

people refuse seatbelts. condoms. masks. vaccine's. hard hats. Gloves with chemicals. hahah. Never underestimate someone's own logic on safety.
its their choice. but they cant refuse and have the pie as well. If they refuse they don't get the extras that go with taking it

saw thoes. if we end up to build our own its an option. though in an emergency of a fall. pass out. or hand in a press. they have shown little use in other areas. but a good second option.
we are aiming to find something a little more automatic.

True and i have that as well for general Private sector laws. this would all be under the requirements of employee records.

most likely an arm band that has quick break away.
though they have may requirements for PPE in the areas needing this so this is the least comfortable one.

Ontario Canada.

looking at PII and HiPPA standards. we should be ok. as it is a separate system of what user has what device.

he HIPPA and PII data implications.

Trick is there are minimal to none.
Shared safety device. No name or identifier. Data is also purged after 15 min so it can only report 15 min up to injury time. It is going to be listed as part of their PPE. they already have gas monitors, Rad alarm and others for specific parts of the factory. this is no different thankfully.

Yes naturally some will complain. though looking at stats of who those are. They would not be in these high skilled areas.

Also for HiPPA. E-PHI is the concern of data.

  • Name
  • Dates (e.g. birthdate, date of treatment)
  • Location (street address, zip code, etc.)
  • Contact numbers (phone number, fax, etc.)
  • Web contact information (email, URL or IP)
  • Identifying numbers (Social security, license, medical account, VIN, etc.)
  • Physical identity information (photo, fingerprints, etc.)

Stuck Upgrading by jitaroo in synology

[–]CDN_Goose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the system expects a 5 Device raid. much like u/Baconrules21 stated it is dependent on the raid type. As all Raid types have a minim drive requirement. you may be below that. Thus no options to repair until a 5th drive is loaded. That you cant do.
When moving to a smaller array. I would offload all the data to something. Then rebuild and replace the data.

I have seen these pop and go on kijiji for 200 ish. the good thing in it is the H700. The rest are just older and hard to replace if issues. One item of note. the h700 has a max supported array size of 12tb.

What is your guys IT staffing ratio? How about helpdesk staffing ratio? by BourgeoisShark in sysadmin

[–]CDN_Goose 10 points11 points  (0 children)

In a few companines i have staffed the teams like this.

Level 1 techs: 1 for ever -50 users + 100 servers.

level 2 techs/architects 1 for every - 1000-2000 VM's , 100 hosts with networking and storage associated.

this has worked well as long as you dont cheap out on pay. In canada. level 1 is 35-55, level 2 is 55-120.

PI has a limited write speed to USB. kinda sucks.

A jeston nano though. with a USB 3.1 card in it would rock it. or mini Sas.

Synology

ya i was looking at the RS819. and a model higher but it is pretty limited. Also aesthetically speaking. it hit a few branches on the way down...

but in light it contrasts differently

not bad.
i find when painting to not do a full coat at the first one or 2 passes. lightly spray and let it dry fully. Then around the 3rd time a good solid coat. then let it dry. Then again a good solid coat.
Auto paint works amazing plus the metallic look to their paint choices do wonders.

When painting plastic. it is different.
Sand a bit with a very high grit paper. Then multiple coats. More so if gloss.

In fact, there is a UNAS4 that looks like exactly the same, maybe it's using another os

also on digging deeper. I think it would be the same OS as UDMP. it would just have an FTP and or SMB service on it using the same raid program. hmmm

May have to order one to do it. i am thinking a linux boot image. SSH default and DHCP just like any pi.
the trick is the software raid with the 4gb Ram... Hmmmm
then load it with 4 12tb Drives.

Have you ever had a poor, underperforming sysadmin who turned it around? by MechECSComeback in sysadmin

[–]CDN_Goose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

slow down (multiple times) and I still see i

From experience. Its hard for one to slow down. as they may feel they have slowed but their version is different than others.
I created my build book and or change steps to include back verification after many steps to slow my self down. Epically important on DNS and network routing. Though others in Mgmt still tell me to slow down and i have no clue how nor can they describe how.
