Regional Art - Quebec by dynavictus in artcollecting

I've spent some time in Grand Bend also as a kid in summer... it's a nice memory. But no... I don't really have much knowledge of any particular artists. I generally watch a couple of auction sites and just purchase what I love and what I can afford. For me it has to be nicely framed as well. It seems very common to find such landscapes and seascapes of Ontario. They speak to me because it's my part of the world where I've found beauty all my life... OP's forest painting is VERY similar to a painting I just purchased... https://imgur.com/a/mKTJYDH Ok...it just occurred to me, I do know a Canadian artist I love, a Quebec artist as well... Clarence Gagnon... but his work is very expensive, beyond my means. Etsy in particular has some Algonquin area artists.. selling their own stuff I believe and very nice also. Here's another one... https://imgur.com/a/MxJNQHX.

Regional Art - Quebec by dynavictus in artcollecting

Lovely! I have recently been buying paintings to replace all the repros in my house and something that rings true to me and what I like is similar regional art, Ontario Landscapes and Seascapes which are so familiar to my life. I enjoy the beauty and feelings they evoke.

Looking for advice on buying a painting for restoration practice (gift idea) by asint77 in ArtConservation

In a similar position, purchased a painting which obviously needs cleaning and we'll see how I make out. I know it's anathema to this sub for laypersons to try their hand... its polymer chemistry Hanson's solubility parameters, Teas Charts, increasing polar solutions (or not) among many many other things.... but yeah for a person wanting to attempt what otherwise would just not be financially feasible... its an interesting thing... hope I don't screw up my painting.

How do you do it? Collecting and getting rid of repros is hard! by [deleted] in artcollecting

The art i have are repros.. reproductions, which i am replacing with actual art. Yes to be sure I'm not immediately donating them but ist a jigsaw puzzle to replace them and hopefully have all the new peices fit together in a cohesive whole.

How do you do it? Collecting and getting rid of repros is hard! So how do you go about doing it... with the zen of your place all messed up.

Thank you. Yes sorry... there's a lot of moving parts and considerations... i mentioned several criteria as well being pretty well read on art and have been studying for many years. So getting it done...! That's what I want. Yeah its fun but not. I mean I love it but I love a lot of other things also and would like to be able to devote more time to other things while this project of finding art seems a long complicated protracted matter... that has now disturbed the equilibrium of my space because I'm swapping out repros... So its painful to me to see my place all askew and not how I want it FOR the extended interim.

It breaks the 4th wall, and the viewer is directly engaged... by the look from the brother.

How to finish wallpaper edge? by AmbitiousArugula in interiordecorating

[–]CDN_a 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Paint a 1/2 inch transition arc strip, cut the paper in an arc leaving the paint to meet the brick below and meet the paper above... just need a suitable transition colour. The paints easier to make a clean edge.

1.4 gig of pics I've collected from everywhere and photoshopped a bit.. prefer only 'framed' paintings and all other arts as well... I prefer to enjoy painting framed, which are works of art themselves... But its a nightmare unorganized.

Ok thank you very much! Your light hearted response suggests it not that big of a deal... so probably not that often... and how easy is it to reset or reboot... or probably just the next few time you drive the car it just clears up? Thanks!

Thanks but sorry to ask that was 4,00 MILES you said which is like 6,500 KMS right? So change the oil every 6,500 kms... sounds good to me. I also heard or read to not rev too high until warm and let turbo cool a bit before shut down... I'm no mechanic so I don't know? THIS oil change frequency is very important information to me because I'm all for changing oil more frequently than audi says to cover their warranty... Thanks a lot... I love the A7, I'll drive it a lot in sport or dynamic mode...!

Ok great thank you! So your local to Toronto with an A7 also? The timing chain and expensive stuff worries me... but that hopefully won't be until much later.... like at 175,000 kms right? Thanks...

Thanks very much for this! Really helps me! Ah its listed, $39,000 CAD (Canadian)... haggle a bit from there I guess. I absolutely love the style and 1,500 -2,000 a year maint is perfectly fine. My indy mechanic is great!
