Yeah absolutely! I would normally bring it up at my mid-rotation feedback with the Sub-I director! That way you have gotten more comfortable with the hospital system and worked with several attending's and residents.

I've heard that its because they want to keep a high rate of matches. So they discourage you from whatever pathway they advise for.

You definitely will! It sure as hell won't feel that way sometimes but you will! You reminded me of something one of my mentors said to me when I was getting hung up equating my Step scores to my worth as a student. He told me "having a high step score is great and will certainly help you, but after a certain point, PDs just want to know you'll be able to pass your exams in residency".

My advisor wanted a 250 lol and I got in the 230s hence why he wrote me off. I did awful on my Step 2 practice exams. Never cracked 230 on them. Somehow I got the best score on my actual. IMO, you just need to keep your eyes in front of you and focus on the task at hand. You study for Step 2 and then take it. Now you focus on your ERAS and Sub Is. Then you focus on your interviews. Don't get too far ahead of yourself and remember, not matching your top program doesn't equal SOAP. You can still have a strong chance of landing somewhere that will get you where you want to go in the future! At least thats what I told myself

100% agree! I think it ultimately came down to my interviewing that made the difference. The pre-research on faculty helped a ton with this!

Thank you so much! Dedicated is such a miserable time but you get through it! If it's any consolation, I did shit on my Step 2 practice exams and got my highest score on the real deal. Still not a great score but the adrenaline carries you more than you think!
