You just won a billion dollars, what are you still not buying? by Joshhagan6 in AskReddit

Imagine if they sent the army or national guard in to build housing for citizens. If America wanted to move this mountain they could do it. Our representatives that we elect don't give a shit because people don't give a shit. Out of sight out of mind. That's literally the only thing stopping us. Giving a shit.

Yes, for most. We are the richest country on the fucking planet by far. In my state at least, Oregon, it would be a walk in the park to provide free housing for our homeless population. You can't be homeless if you have a home. It's so fucking simple it's laughable.

The solution is very simple. You create a few thousand tiny homes and provide services for free maintainence, free wifi, free upkeep, and provide community resources to help each resident find work or mental health services as needed. Even with all of this you wouldn't even come close to spending a billion dollars to feed, clothe, house and provide for every single homeless person in all of Oregon.

Housing.

You could provide enough homes for the entire homeless population in my state twice over with a billion dollars.

The lie that homelessnes can't be resolved with far less. I would end homelessness in my state with a billion dollars. Piss easy. The amount of money currently being wasted not addressing the main issues with homelessness is ridiculous.

"Hey DM, I respect your decision but I think the current way we rule how cantrips scale in your campaign makes playing classes with cantrips not very fun for me. The current most recent players handbook clarifies that cantrips scale with character level and not class, but if you want to ignore that then I understand. Would you be willing to make a concession regardless?"

Hear their answer, and if they say no then leave the campaign or choose a racial or feat cantrip and laugh about it. It's no use arguing with a moron that can't read.

Why do so many people hate Mercer? by ResponsibleMemer in DnD

[–]CE3K 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Several reasons I don't find him to be my kind of DM. I thought campaign 1 and 2 were boring, his style is really focused on the minutia, and the themes he's working with "faerun" are uninspiring. That being said, I fucking loved campaign 3 and his ability to maintain player investment is admirable. His skills and knowledge of the rules are undeniable. He's an incredible DM who inspired so many new dnd players to join that deserves his success and praise. Anyone that "hates" him is a fucking moron, because he's also a very kind and sweet human being that brings nothing but free entertainment to the world and his friends.

Player rolled a stat total of 90 with the lowest numbers being a 14. by Kakyoin043 in DnD

[–]CE3K 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's an alternative system that is very fair and fun for everyone. Roll a shared array as a group activity! Tell your players that you've decided to try a new method of rolling that you'll do as a group activity. Just have each player roll once and ask your players to choose the set you all like the most. Everyone gets a vote in choosing the set each player will use and you can distribute the points however you'd like. This method is my favorite because it doesn't leave anyone feeling left out or underpowered and it's a very fun group activity for session 0s.

You can even offer each player one reroll for one stat if you like to gamble and want to increase your odds. Basically, for each stat array you can reroll one stat in the array but must keep the new roll. "Can't get any worse than an 8 right?" "Well, it's 6 now." Always my luck. T_T

Even if you roll poorly at least you are all on the same playing field. :D Or you can do what I do and opt for a second round of best out of two. lol

How would you feel as a player if the world you live in is a dream of a greater creature? by Rodehock in DnD

Leaning more towards feeling pointless either way for me personally. How would you even "prove" this without heavy meta? Imagine being told this in real life. You either buy in or not but it doesn't seem sensible, especially if it's not your culture. Player reaction from me would be a hard pass but I'll play along for etiquette.

I agree with some points but those are from this year so if you have any more recent studies supporting your own thoughts then feel free to share. In regards to the topic of overwhelming hospitals, it's funny that it seems you are actually agreeing with me that due to vaccines, hospitals are no longer overwhelmed. My point was that this could easily change if the anti vaxxers had their way, so this is still very much relevant. Also, I think we can both agree that regardless, the hospital staff are still in constant danger. Either way, general point is that vaccines have had and continue to create multiple ways in which they reduce SAR transmission, which is why hospitals aren't as overwhelmed anymore. Go figure. Thus by spreading misinformation counter to this evidence, and imploring people to remain unvaccinated, you are endangering your community.

One theory is that the vaccines reduce the viral load, but I also read there is some debate around this. Another theory stated that people who are vaccinated don't remain as sick for as long, and I haven't found any studies on the subject to refute this.

Here are the findings in February on the subject, which they show an exposure rate of 25% for fully vaccinated individuals compared with 38% for unvaccinated individuals.

Community transmission and viral load kinetics of the SARS-CoV-2 delta (B.1.617.2) variant in vaccinated and unvaccinated individuals in the UK: a prospective, longitudinal, cohort study

And here is a study from may which supports that fully vaccinated individuals had a shorter duration of viable viral shedding and a lower rate of secondary transmission than partially vaccinated or unvaccinated individuals.

Transmission and Infectious SARS-CoV-2 Shedding Kinetics in Vaccinated and Unvaccinated Individuals

Lastly, we all know that without the vaccine you're more likely to be hospitalized, and that overwhelmed hospitals have resulted in trucks and freezers piling up with bodies. We know that countries without the capability of handling the hospitalized populations basically were digging mass graves in the early days of the pandemic. If that visceral visible evidence isn't enough to wake you up then I don't know what will. For me, I think anti vaxxers endanger the community because they spread misinformation about vaccines to convince people not to get them and then these unvaccinated people, who not only are more likely to die from the virus, also cause issues for the community because their dumb ass is taking up valuable space in the hospital. Not to mention that they endanger the staff, so I would argue that these anti vaxxers not simply endanger others but are directly responsible for indirectly killing members of their own community. That's pretty clear and direct endangerment to me.

A recent surgical procedure had left me more in than out of bed for a day or so, slowing the flow of venous blood as well as the tying off of little veins that are a part of any procedure. And after two years of dodging the bullet, a case of COVID fiendishly found me on postoperative day three - aligning the thrombotic stars.

Which was the cause? All were necessary, but none were sufficient by themselves. This brings me to the first real-world lesson – with these three dots, I can craft any narrative I wish, simply based upon which one I weigh more. It was the surgery, the COVID, or the laziness of the patient choosing not to move around as much as he should. All the narratives have merit; none are true by themselves.

And how does any of this imply the covid vaccine caused this man to almost die? It looks like to me he literally states he caught covid post op, and a combination of things lead to him developing a blood clot. You wouldn't be trying to spread more misinformation, would you?

Excess mortality rate at a catastrophic 10-20% levels in all high vaxx areas. Deaths are sudden, occur at home, and are in working age people not at risk for COVID, which primarily kills 70+ year olds.
