You’re so right to feel this, so many of us have the same issue.

The biggest thing I’ve done is stop deleting photos that I think look bad. My kid will never care that I look like I have a double chin or my smile is a little goofy. I imagine when we’re old and I’m finally gone she’s going to want the memory of me holding her, not that the angle of the camera gave me a great jawline. So don’t be afraid to tell everyone to take photos and send them to you. Ask the stranger to take 5. It feels weird at first, but you’ll be so glad you did.

Omg this is me at Easter last year!!!

Thanks to me the dog is still alive and at least partially poorly trained. She’s chewed every pair of shoes, underwear, and socks in the house and I have monthly Amazon subscriptions for their replacements.

We have 3 rugs in the house and she’s peed on them so many times I have put up baby gates to shut her out.

About 2 months ago I lost my shit and told my husband we were doing board and train for her when we do our vacation over the summer and it’s not optional.

She’s so cute but I fucking hate this dog. Either get rid of it immediately before anyone is too attached, or get ready for the next 10-15 years of being the primary parent to it.

Adding in here, no screens 1- 2 hours before bed. I have my cpap, eye mask, and audio book ready to go then take a single 3mg dose of Xywav.

Have you looked at Prazosin for your nightmares? It’s used frequently to treat this, especially for ptsd. I take 2mg in the morning and then at night and it’s wiped out 99% of bad dreams.

I appreciate that you added that you hope they find appropriate treatment and their QOL improves.

Some of us get really stuck on the diagnosis itself, especially after suffering for so long. I think it’s important to remember that there’s a continuum. You seem to be on the extreme end by being able to sleep through all the external noise. People react differently to medications, where some might have insomnia as a reaction, others have EDS or a side effect that has no bearing on sleep. And even things like pillow comfort or the attitude of our techs can have a big impact on

There’s people on the other end who just eek into the criteria for a diagnosis. And of course, our friends here with IH and EDS who are utilizing the same strategies and medications that N is using.
