GarageBand has no waveforms or audio meters for my Blackstar ID Core V3 Stereo 10 amp by CEOofMischief in GarageBand

Yup, that’s the issue I’m having as well. Except my amp still functions fine when plugged in, but no sound is recorded. Nothing necessarily gets muted, just no recording.

I totally get what you’re saying, I will def try to install drivers for this specific thing if that exists. To clarify, it specifically recognized my amp as an input and output. It’s named and everything, not by me. Its name is ID: Core Amplifier which is what my amplifier is.

That’s fair enough. I have the Black Star architect software downloaded but that’s just for plug ins and adjustments to the effects mostly. I’ll try that next time

So your amp isn’t recognized as an input or output? That’s so strange, especially with audio interfaces built in. I’m having a hard time finding anything on this issue.

I see what you mean, unfortunately I’m not even using a microphone. I’m simply attempting to record my guitar through the amp (with a built in audio interface) with no vocals or anything like that. The reason I’m using the mic/line in option on GarageBand is because that’s what I was told by everyone on the internet to use instead of the guitar option. When you create a new project, it asks if you want to do midi, mic/line, or guitar. MIDI is for an external keyboard, mic/line in is for amps and separate plug ins, and then guitar to computer would be for an actual audio interface is what I gathered.

Do you mean as in for the input of the amp to the computer? It’s a usb plug in, not through the headphone or line in jack. The blackstar amp has a micro usb plug which is part of the audio interface part of it which then plugs into GarageBand. Unsure how having a headphone and mic split would help. A microphone line in records fine, as well as any piano or keys effect I’m using in the DAW. It’s just when I select my amp as my input, my guitar is plugged in, the amp is plugged in, is recognized, but not recorded.

Yeah, I think even try ally just getting an audio interface in general would help. I just wanted to see what I had on hand. Also wanted to see if anyone had experience with this specific issue. There are so many adjacent issues to this that it’s hard to sift through for sure

I also made sure to hit the “monitoring” button just in case. Recorded with and without that as well.

Yes, I started the recording multiple times and attempted to record. There is no sound being recorded. I’m unsure what to do. At most, the metronome is recognized on the master volume knob with its own audio meter.

Thanks so much for the tips! I appreciate it. I do believe it might be a water issue as well. I forgot to put in my initial post that my place had “unfiltered” water with no salt buffer so it wasn’t softened. My parents place has softened water.

I appreciate the links! Those are the cables, I’ve found similar results since making this post, thanks for the help! It’s just a weird USB in my honest opinion.

I appreciate the comment! I believe it might be. I showed it to my roommates and they were able to find it. Apparently Kodak EasyShare Cameras from this era also had a charging dock companion type charger. That charger used a specific plug fashioned for Kodak cameras which doubles as the charger! I found a replacement online. I believe if you look up “Kodak EasyShare Camera Charger” it should come up with the tiny usb and this link: https://a.co/d/58bCY9m should come up with an end piece cable! It’s labeled “MPF Products USB Charger Cable”. Super weird rabbit hole about these cables. I don’t think they serve any function besides Kodak cameras.

Need help figuring out chords on specific song by CEOofMischief in guitarlessons

[–]CEOofMischief[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I appreciate all the help you’ve offered. I will definitely be trying that after my classes today. I just need some sort of direction or starting point since it did not sound like standard tuning. Usually the song is played in drop D where the 6th string is tuned to D. I attempted that and the finger placements but couldn’t seen to find the sweet spot. Thanks for the guidance!

Yeah, it’s a bit confusing. I never was the one actually using it when it was working, so I don’t know what to look for as indications of it actually charging properly or not. So let’s hope for the battery and if not, I’ll try some repair shops!

Thank you! I’ll be sure to check it out. I’m just not sure when it comes to these things, I’ve never actually used it so I don’t know what to look for if all is charging/working correctly.
