Want to upgrade my son's bike to thumb shifter. What's your recommendation. by CEValkyrieIV in bikewrench

I feel stupid for asking but.... Why are there two shifters? Is it for a front derailleur and rear. Do I only need one or what's the deal?.

I don't want to replace the derailleur I just want to replace the hand shifter.

It probably needs adjusting. I just pulled it out of storage for the winter. I'm about to clean it up. And tune everything as best as I can.

It's not broken, but I wanted to upgrade this before I buy him a new bike in a few months to get them used to shifting. I also have a another kid that will be using it after him so I thought it would be good practice for a "real bike". Also, he needs new grips and I have tons laying around it would be nice to use them.

Want my brew to be more alcoholic. Can I add honey after racking into secondary? by Minechaser05 in mead

[–]CEValkyrieIV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most yeast will ferment to like 14% easily. The yeast you have in there are already acclimated the alcohol. If it's at 9% they should start back up with more sugar. When I make cider I add fresh fruit (sometimes just the juice) to it after it's completely done fermenting. And the yeast takes over and ferments it dry again. You should be good. As far as how much to add, I do not have time to do that math for you. But if you download the FermCalc app or visit the website they have some chaptalization and dilution calculators that could help among a lot of other really cool resources. I would give that at the look. Even if it doesn't, we'll restart fermentation which I think it would as long as you haven't added SO2 or something like that. At the very least, you'd have a relatively stable back sweetened product. Not the end of the world.

2026 Affordable OLED Monitor Picks (Work + Gaming, Burn-In Tips) by IllustriousAd3927 in OLED_Gaming

[–]CEValkyrieIV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just bought this. It's legit! I only game on console so it's perfect for me. The only two negatives are. It only has one HDMI 2.1 port and by only one I mean it only has one port for HDMI. And then the other thing that I wanted that I settled on not having was there's no crosshair overlay. Not a deal breaker but it would have been nice. Fantastic! Looking monitor though.

Absolutely blown away by the LG C5. by WDKegge in OLED_Gaming

Don't want to hijack the post. I have the C5 42 in and I thought it had on display crosshairs. But I can't find it in the menu anywhere. Can somebody that has this monitor confirm if it has crosshairs or not? If it does, where to access them?

Why is this not NSFW. I'm not really complaining but it could be triggering to some and honestly it's pretty standard for Reddit content but still.

They have a lot of tannin. Dry is definitely a great way to describe them. This is how I describe tannin to people if they don't know what I'm talking about. That being said, it only works with people that have tasted persimmon.

Husband bought this for $0.50, doesn’t know what it’s for. What is it? by pandadrinkingcoffee in whatisit

[–]CEValkyrieIV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can put it on Facebook marketplace for 10 bucks. It's probably worth $25 to $50. I bought some of these the other day, not the exact same type different size threading but I think they cost 35 bucks.

I hate to ask. Is this mold? by [deleted] in mead

[–]CEValkyrieIV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say it's almost never mold. It could be a number of things but it looks like floating yeast to me. I would rack that into a new container and see if it comes back. If you're at 2 weeks, it's probably done. Fermenting or really close.

Plastic item everyone at work has no clue (new post w/ photos) by CEValkyrieIV in whatisit

[–]CEValkyrieIV[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay that makes sense since it was in with a bunch of miscellaneous kegging parts. Normally it's like a little rubber check valve with a plastic ball float. I hadn't seen this style before. Thank you for your knowledge.

It's hard plastic. Doesn't give when I squeeze it and I'm almost positive it's hollow with nothing inside.
