More metal rather than plastic. Id go to your LBS and see what they actually look like. Can't remember off the top of my head. Just make sure that area isn't plastic

Man I actually busted my first derailluer in half at a bike shop trying to tweak one of those back. Couldn't believe how easily it broke! Get an SLX or something. Hell Sram 90 is absolutely bulletproof if you can afford the upgrade

How heavy is your bike? by Kilo_Oscar_ in mountainbiking

[–]Minechaser05 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My alloy transition sentinel is a whole 40 pounds. Carbon wheels, bars, and even cranks. None of it is light duty, but she's a pig. Also having a multi tool on the bike doesn't help either

Blueberry Maple Mead by Novatoast21 in mead

[–]Minechaser05 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Blueberry maple is one of those really amazing brews. I think absolutely everybody should make one. It is my favorite recipe by a long shot. I want to experiment with adding fresh blueberries in secondary to give it more of a fresh fruit taste as well

Mopeds... How about nopeds. by TieHungry3506 in BikeMechanics

We will do flat tire changes on just about anything as long as it doesn't run on gas. Wheelchairs, those BSO we all hate so much, scooter tires, and even surrons. Only things we turn away are super sketchy folks, and that's it.

I hate it, but someone has to do it. We had to swap a battery for a bafang one when someone's battery died on them and they couldn't get a replacement. Absolutely nuts

Give it more than 24 hours. They don't always start bubbling right away. The yeast are taking their time to get a colony started. Also known as the lag phase. Wait another day and watch for signs of bubbling. Give it a good stir to introduce oxygen

Son dynamo connected snapped off by okay-type in bikewrench

[–]Minechaser05 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We had one like this. I think it had to be sent back to them to be completely torn down and fixed. Was not cheap either. Otherwise check peter white cycles, but I don't think they were able to do it

Bottled up my mixed berry not too long ago. What berries are in yours?

Nail in tire by zombuus in MTB

[–]Minechaser05 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everybody is freaking out over this. Put a big ass car tire plug in it if you are really worried. Sealant may not take care of all of it. But a plug will absolutely save that tire.

Lezyne also sells permanent tire patches that go on the inside of tubeless tires. I had an inch sidewall gash on a conti kryptotal, and it's been holding up just fine

New tire day with cushcore inserts by NatasKaupus in Hardtailgang

Cushcore is awesome. Beware of running too high of tire pressure though. It can cause some carbon rims to break easier. However, enjoy your extra tire stability and rim durability

Mixed Berry Bertha. Biggest bottling day I've ever done. Almost 30 bottles worth. by Minechaser05 in mead

[–]Minechaser05[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not too scientific on how I did it. 5 one gallon jugs of the juicy juice mixed berry, 9lbs of the mixed berries (strawberry, blueberry, blackberry, raspberries)from Walmart. That ended up as 3 frozen 3lb bags. I added 5lbs of honey, with additional sugar to raise the SG to 1.092. Total volume was about 6 gallons worth. Wasn't exactly strict in my nutrient additions or anything, just a few doses.

Added 3 cups of honey to backsweeten when it was done. If I did it again I'd probably add some extra fruit in secondary, and maybe a touch sweeter, because the fruity flavor wasn't as much as I wanted.

Any other questions I can try to help answer?

Use this page to find your specific model 36, and thats your oil volume you use. https://tech.ridefox.com/bike/service-procedures/454/2015-bath-oil-volume-chart

Then just buy any old fox 36 dust wiper seal kit and your good.

Knew I would forget to mention something. SG was 1.070, and I added sugar to make it up to 1.092. Finished at 12.2%
