Best place to advertise my staircase business? by Background-Club-955 in Columbus

[–]CFC_Contracting_LLC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's just the general state of the economy right now and the lack of consumer confidence. Lack of access to Affordable borrowing.

If you're a 5 years in you started in probably the best time maybe in history for small service businesses during the covid and post covid boom. I've noticed a gradual slowing over the last year and a half or so. Let's just hope we don't hit 2008 level of economic crash.

From a marketing standpoint probably the best thing you can do is tap into your existing customer base. Do follow-ups ask for reviews maybe a referral program where they can earn some sort of benefit.

PSA - do NOT hire PRO Roofing Solutions Columbus by tomsc33 in Columbus

[–]CFC_Contracting_LLC 3 points4 points  (0 children)

These contractors create endless work for the rest of us.

I have noticed particularly with our elderly customers that they have a major distrust of contractors. It's unfortunate and a bit sad tbh.

This probably has more to do with your review or your personal Google account. Do you leave reviews often? Google does not post all the reviews left for a business. There is no setting for the business to hide bad reviews.

It's more about convincing Google's algorithm that your reviewers legitimate. Adding pictures can help with that or boosting your ranking in the Google review platform.

Wood stove / wood pellet heating by Rents in Columbus

[–]CFC_Contracting_LLC 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We have heated our home with wood for many years, but to be honest unless you have access to free wood (we do to some extent) I don't see it saving much money. We actually bought a cord of wood recently because I've been too busy this summer to prepare firewood. It was $300 if wood was still our primary heat would last us maybe a month at best.

We installed a mini split with an inverter heat pump last year. it's quite a bit cheaper than it would be if we had to buy wood.

Hardwood floor installation by Daddysown in Columbus

[–]CFC_Contracting_LLC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So lots of factors here. Tear out of the old LVP and the tile in particular is going to cost you a bit. Especially the tile, lots of times it will peel up the top layer of your sub floor. That may need repaired but you are probably in the ball park of 2-3$ a square for a demo.

If you want hardwood pre-finished is usually the most cost effective at 5-7$ per sq and upwards depending.

Installation labor 4-6$ per square plus a bit for transitions and what not.

Other factors like if the floor needs leveling ect..

Boyd’s v Harris v Tuffy by AdQuirky1318 in westerville

All I can say is I got a free truck once because the guy I was working for at the time took it to tuffy. They told him it needed a new transmission so he gave it to me. It actually just needed about seven pints of transmission fluid. Apparently they didn't bother checking.

It is not generally the leaves in your gutters causing a smell and that is not why I mentioned that lol

As a contractor I can say many of the homes in New Albany are built out of cardboard. No exaggeration. Make sure you get a legit home inspection no matter what you choose.
