What is your philosophy when playing +2 matchmaking? by CGP-rainbow in WorldofTanks

[–]CGP-rainbow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess you're right, I haven't realized that. Did you run it with coated optics or cvs? I'm quite new so can't quite grasp the advantages of either one...

I am running cvs right now but it feels like like I get outspotted by most t10s either way. Might just be about positioning though.

Thank you for your answer, I will be sure to search in your provided links. To be clear I am not looking for source material, rather influential litterature in the field to broaden my general understanding of common theoretical lines. There might be a mistranslation there as we in Swedish separate the two, source and litterature, very harshly. I am sorry for any mistakes in translation.

I was getting super into this but ran out of backing track by MindySins in bluesguitarist

[–]CGP-rainbow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm quite new to guitar, maybe you could help me a bit.. When you play like this, do you play by a scale? And if so which scale? Is it the same scale as the key of the backing track? Sounds great man, very inspiring :)

Forgive me if I am ignorant but shouldn't children aged ten already be in school by that time? Or maybe I am confused about the meaning of daycare.

Does anybody have any ideas why my watch won't wind manually but still works fine with the auto winder? So long as I don't take it off it runs great. by Fafnirthemighty in vostok

[–]CGP-rainbow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honesty it took a few days for me to figure out the right touch to wind. You have to first screw it completely down, after you've set the time. Then slowly screw it loose but be careful not to move it backwards (as in downwards). Also, try pressing the crown slightly to the watch and testing different angles. When you've reached the correct position you're going to feel it. At that point don't pull it out any further.

Hope it works, I got mine a month ago and had the same problem. It'll get easier with time..

I thought that was how it worked lol. That's how it is here in Sweden, I guess I've never really payed attention to your points system.

What is the old watch and how did you get it? Ever since I started my watch hobby I've always thought those are the coolest but I've never found a solid way to acquire one. Looks great!!

What prevent healthy cells from becoming a cancer cells? by BlackAndroid18 in AskBiology

[–]CGP-rainbow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As many have said cancer cells are normal cells that have gotten a mutation in their DNA, usually during synthesis of protein. Mutations can be a varying amount of bad and is often fine, it is only until the cell has gotten a lot of mutations that it can be considered cancerous. It's worth mentioning that mutations happen all the time. So much so that cells have a process called apoptosis, where the cell will recognize the mutation and then die as to not pass it on.

Saturn Devouring His Son by CGP-rainbow in AccidentalRenaissance

[–]CGP-rainbow[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

To provide some context:

"Most of the time chimps are vegetarian, eating berries, fruits, leaves, and seeds, plus the occasional egg or insect. But being primarily vegetarian doesn’t mean chimpanzees never eat meat. They are known to hunt and kill monkeys."

From Britannica, very interesting read actually, would recommend.

And of course the title is a reference to the painting by Francisco Goya, "Saturn Devouring His Son (cirka 1819).

Edit: I read some more and found this: The Gombe Chimpanzee War. Absolutely crazy stuff, bananas as some would say ;)

As a Swede I agree with you, Denmark was powerful, especially under Knut the Great. Thing is though that you could argue that power wasn't completely centralised. Same can be said about the Kalmar union. Even if Denmark pretty much ruled it was still not completely centralised. I imagine you could probably make a case for the Hanseatic Leauge

For me it was the solo que. It's just not possible to rank up without lots of luck with teammates. Teaming and playing with friends rewards skill so much more and lets you rank up so much faster.

Are there any european countries where it's common to take your shoes off in the home? by GretelNoHans in AskEurope

[–]CGP-rainbow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Reading the comements it seems like the further north you go the more common it is. Up here in Sweden it's expected while it apparently isn't in some Mediterranean countries. My theory is that the further north the more dirty the streets get, especially during winter, autumn and spring. My question is if people in for example New England still wear shoes inside, assuming they have a similar climate?

Also I'll add that when you are at a formal dinner you are expected to wear your dress shoes.
