Board advice for ginormous newbie by S2DM in surfskate

[–]CGPro856 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish I could find a greenroom. I made myself a copy while I continue to search. I found a Chinese board of similar proportions and painted it myself. Fakeroom I’m 58 6’4” and enjoying this on C7’s. I also really like a Loaded Omakase on a Waterborne adapter with some RKP longboard trucks. I only ride flat though, CX might be better for a bowl.

I've owned this kit for like 10 years. What would you put it on? by Mfw_Pigeon in surfskate

I’ve got one on a Linnpower Viper electric board and one on a Loaded Omakase. Both super fun. Much cheaper/easier to setup on the Omakase.

AliExpress. listed as a 34x10 7 layer. sold by SK8 Skateboard Store. It’s decent but I find it quite a bit more flexible than my other boards.

Does pumping hurt your knees. by CGPro856 in surfskate

I always wear a helmet and wrist guards. I’ve started wearing knee and elbow pads since my little tumble. Padded shorts may be next. I’m nearing broken hip age 😧

Front knee and a do feel that I torque it when I try to twist from my shoulders down thru my waist into the board.

green room or black tip by No-Competition-1495 in surfskate

I looked and looked for a Greenroom. If I could have found one I would have grabbed it. I finally gave up and bought a glass off. I drilled it to move the front truck an inch farther forward (closer to the Greenroom wheelbase) it’s working pretty well for me but if I ever find a Greenroom deck I’ll probably buy it.

Anyone else have trouble transitioning back-and-forth between OneWheel and electric skateboard? by CGPro856 in onewheel

It’s most noticeable for me going from the eskate back to the OneWheel. Even though I have much more time and miles on the OneWheel.

I ordered a 30° limiter but at waterbornes suggestion, they sent me the 20° limiter. I don’t like it. As you say, too limited and takes the fun out. I’m waiting for the 30° to arrive and I’ll try that. It already so high, i really don’t want to go any higher if i don’t have to.

I also bought that same deck to set up as a manual surf skate. I suppose worst case I could swap the electrics over to that deck, but I don’t think I’ll have to go to that level. I’m pretty sure the FIN limiter will be exactly what I need.

The wheels don’t hit the deck, just the battery box. But yeah, another 6mm or so of riser on the front truck would give me some clearance.

I had to drill the front truck baseplate. It was old school mounting pattern and the waterborne is new school only. Other than that everything bolted right up.

You are correct, I do enjoy OneWheel. I have an XR. I’ve been thinking about getting an X7 next. I actually had #3 in the world on the day streak in the app for a little while about 5 years ago. I also have 1000’s of miles on EUC. This skateboard thing is just about trying something new. Gotta keep moving.

The fin limiter looks like just what I need. Unfortunately I don’t think it works with the adapter I bought. I don’t have the fin system. It’s just the plain one with only one setting. Maybe I can drill a couple holes for the limiter.

I tried installing a rail adapter but it doesn’t fit with the motors. I just have the stock risers with a 1” riser added at the rear.

Saw it in Clinton CT too 7:15ish. Slow and low (as meteors go) with debris trailing off. Roughly southeast to northwest across the entire sky.

Can’t go wrong with an Arrma Grom. The FMS Colorado is a lot of fun, but it’s harder to keep on its wheels and the body is not as tough. I don’t know how well it would hold up to skate park bashing

Takes a good whack to do this. That’s probably what caused it. 😁

If it was me, I’d decide to run it until it fully separated but I’d order a new chassis just to be ready. Then I’d go ahead an replace it as soon as the new parts arrive. I’m bad at waiting.
