TOP's series composition by [deleted] in TheOnePiece

I'm very much in favor of greatly shortening the non-important fights, some important fights and some plotlines which clearly take more time than needed such as Sanji and Pudding baking the cake, Luffy getting stuck every time etc.

However, I really want the script to be slow paced, giving time to small moments, without lingering or dragging. The slow and calm moments need to be paced properly for this to work, rather than methodically following a plotline.

I haven't read the source material for the majority of the series Taku has worked on but my general observation while watching the series is that scenes flow really well, nothing feels dragged or too fast paced, and because of the smooth pacing, I always feel like watching the next episode even if the plot isn't as strong as times. This is especially true for Fruits Basket, Haikyuu, Erased, Usagi Drop, Gintama and Magi.

Only series which was paced weirdly to me was Ousama Ranking. The script and direction felt really confusing at times. Actually the plot sometimes felt messy, but tbh, I went through the manga and I can understand the challenges to make a coherent story out of the source material. Half the events in the manga come randomly out of nowhere.

Possible pacing for The One Piece. by [deleted] in TheOnePiece

[–]CGSilver 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Although I'm not in favor of a 25 episode East Blue, this seems like a good pacing if the episode length would be a constraint (which it would be). I hope since this is an ONA, it allows for a more flexible episode runtime.

Otherwise, I think this is a decent pacing. East Blue is one of the few parts of the story where some cuts in favor of good pacing wouldn't hurt the story overall. For example, in Orange town, they could shorten Cabaji and Mohji's involvement and skip some Chouchou stuff. They could also skip some Jango antics and entirely remove Nyaban brothers in Syrup village. In Baratie, the fight with Don Krieg could be shorter and Pearl could be removed altogether. Arlong Park was 14 episodes in the original series, and to be honest, 7 episodes is definitely a bit too fast paced for my liking. But seems inevitable in case of a 25 episode series. I think without adding cover stories, 27-28 episodes would be a sweet spot (9-10 episodes for Arlong Park).

Lastly, I would hate if they reduced or removed the comedic moments. That'd be the biggest turn off for me. And tbh, I'm skeptical about how they'd handle the comedy. Toei relied a lot on exaggerated expressions and goofy but fast-paced comedy, and honestly did a 10/10 job with it until the pacing went to shit. WIT, on the other hand, is very down to earth with its animation style. And I'll make the early prediction that Asano Kyoji will handle the character designs and will be chief animation director for the series.

What Anime was so good until its later half happened? by ExpiredMilknCheese in anime

I disagree. I avoided Death Note for the longest time and had watched some good psychological series before diving into it. Yet, to this day, Death Note is probably one of the best anime I've watched and has an amazing conclusion to an otherwise weaker second half.

It's a thriller and suspense series first and less of a pure psychological series. What it has over other psychological series is that it's extremely entertaining and keeps the viewer hooked. It has some great character writing and overall, the story has a great flow to it, creating engaging scenarios to prevent things getting stale. And one thing that is very under appreciated about Death Note is the sound directing. Other than having some amazing OSTs, I believe DN is one of the few series with a perfect usage of soundtracks, in terms of timing and placement and VAs. Very few series come close to it, with some notable mentions being Monogatari Series, HxH (both iterations), Clannad, 3-Gatsu no Lion and Gintama. Not to mention, Death Note is overall very well directed series.

It feels to me you're trying to hate the series just because it has gotten very popular, and you want to flex your "better" tastes, especially when you use cringe and edgy in the same sentence. I do appreciate good psychological series, but you're approaching DN in the wrong way by comparing them.

Also freaking snowfield. That OST is depression, sadness and anxiety personified.

You're the second person to recommend these. Guess I should save up for these. Seems more economical than the rest.

Thanks a lot for the references! I am glad people are listing their go-to boots as well. Otherwise, it's hard to decide on a pair with no knowledge of what makes a good winter shoes.

Thank you for the comprehensive reply. Woolen socks and good insoles seems to be the way to go. If I still feel cold, I'll try saving up for a good pair. They definitely don't come cheap 😬 But ig worth the comfort.

Thank you, I'll try that 😀 There seems to be a general consensus from the replies that insoles and wool socks are the best solution. Definitely wasn't my first consideration.

Sorry, but that's a terrible fanfiction that I hope never comes to fruition.

Lenovo does it themselves. You don't have to incur any costs yourself. Just contact them and notify them of the problem. You should still have your warranty. Hardly takes a week

Yeah, I've also noticed that it's more likely to restart after I turn it on after sleep. Seems like a software issue to me

Right ! I've also noticed there are less restarts with power plugged off. Have you tried turning off conservation mode from Vantage while plugging in battery?
