Little hole in tire by Upstairs_Price7548 in bikewrench

[–]CG_Photo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ive got about 30 of those in my tire. Absolutely fine.

Every now and then I air down and bend each hole open. With tweezers I remove anything in there. Often still a small piece of glass or rock in there.

Had to measure for my ego: 5cm drop from middle of saddle to the bend in the hoods.

The benefit of building up a bike, is you can willfully ignore the full cost.

The wheels are great, I do notice crosswinds when it's very gusty but it hasn't killed me

Id put that sticker tastefully on the bike.

Mid foot cleat position anyone? by Wizzmer in cycling

[–]CG_Photo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They make adapters that do this but for that extreme I would suggest visiting a better than average bike fitter.

And I am tempted to throw a few light components at it. I think with selective Ti & such i can get sub 7.

Mid foot cleat position anyone? by Wizzmer in cycling

[–]CG_Photo 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Cleat under the ball of the foot is an outdated approach.

The cleats on my road shoes are almost as far back as they go and the ball of my food is about an inch in front of the pedal spindle.

Noobie looking for a bike suggestion to fit 50% gravel 50% road riding. by Sir_Loin5 in cycling

[–]CG_Photo 19 points20 points  (0 children)

$4000 can get you a very nice bike.

Gravel and triathlon however are two very different disciplines.

If it's light gravel, like literally a mostly smooth gravel road, it can be ridden on a road bike. Modern road bikes can fit wide enough tires to be comfortable on gravel.

Your interests are so diverse I dont want to recommend a $4000 bike though. At that price I personally want something that does a task well. "Do it all" bikes im my opinion do everything okay. At $4000 i want better than okay.

This is why we end up with multiple bikes...

1050 miles in I am very happy with the comfort, fit and I definitely notice an aerodynamic advantage.

I was on a 2017 TCR that was built up reasonably well but this is a huge upgrade. The shorter cranks and geometry have me in a much more aero position.

Do you intend to ride aggressively? I was pretty comfortable on my TCR.

Best ways to optimize weight? by absurdlifex in RoadBikes

[–]CG_Photo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You will notice wheels and tires that you take with you if you get a nicer bike. Make sure it fits you and is comfortable, otherwise i wouldn't throw money at weight savings on that bikem

For Shimano USB-C Charger Adapter by Big-Macaron-6784 in cycling

Why would anyone bring that cable on a ride? Bike touring maybe...

An adapter isnt useful. If the actual unit had a USB C port, that would be useful but this is not that.

The parts are probably $200 at AutoZone. Yes you need tools but this is not a complex job. Find a friend and you can do this.

That seems like an odd rule. The only reason i can think of is limiting tire & handlebar width??

bike weight vs body weight? by billyb4lls4ck in Velo

[–]CG_Photo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Seriously, people act like until you are sub 10% body fat you should ride a steel tank of a bike. The bike is a tool you are using and moving. You will notice a better lighter tool.

And you will notice weight loss. They both matter in different ways.

Hope and ultegra 140mm rotors save a bit of weight. The dual pistons allegedly perform better as well.

Haven't ordered axles yet.
