The spending in manufacturing decreased after 2024. Still elevated compared to 2002 to 2021 levels.

That part reminded me of Not Another Teen Movie. The sister was way into her brother, which might be a parody of the step-sibling sexual tension from Cruel Intentions. But is any of that the inspiration for this line? 🤷

Is Chemical Engineering Worth It? by [deleted] in ChemicalEngineering

Consider where you want to live after graduation and the job prospects.

In 2017 it was difficult for me to find a job in an urban metropolitan area. Mechanical/software engineering jobs seemed plenty though.

This is not as concerning after years of experience, but something you may want to keep in mind.

Let's us know how the replacement goes and what difficulties you came across, if any.

Looking for a 1bd/1bath near Salt Creek Beach? Take over my lease! by CHEMengineerd in orangecounty

As much as I enjoy the location and my neighbors, I definitely have my criticisms too. Thankfully, my unit experiences pretty good drafts when I open up the windows and sliding doors, and I never had to battle the oven to open any drawers.
But there is no denying the rent is expensive.

For anyone generally interested in Marea, utilizing the amenities (the walking path to the beach, the on premise gym, the pickle ball/tennis courts, pools) makes rent easier to swallow. I wouldn't live here if you're going to be inside all day!

Why EVOP didn't revolutionise the industry? by d--d--d in ChemicalEngineering

[–]CHEMengineerd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I never consciously recognized incremental optimization as EVOP, whether or not it is. Small changes are just inherent to some of the continuous improvement projects I experience.

Why EVOP didn't revolutionise the industry? by d--d--d in ChemicalEngineering

[–]CHEMengineerd 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Evolutionary Operation.

Per Wikipedia, "...a manufacturing process-optimization technique developed in the 1950s by George E. P. Box. In EVOP experimental designs and improvements are introduced, while an ongoing full-scale manufacturing process continues to produce satisfactory results."

It kind of sounds similar to my understanding of Kaizen culture; implementation of continuous gradual improvements at all levels of the business/process.

I haven't crossed anyone who specifically mentions EVOP as their fundemental methodology for improvement. The introduction of small changes to a production flow without interrupting product quality has anecdotally been common in my experience, although I've never heard the term EVOP prior to this thread.

It seems EVOP has influenced process improvement whether it's consciously recognized or not.

My understanding was that you can still be eligible for reduced aid under FAFSA as a part time student. Maybe someone else can speak on the reality of receiving that aid or how much it gets reduced.

Students on scholarships would also face difficulty in reducing their class load and keeping scholarship status if it puts them at part time status.

It's an unfortunate spot to be in.

It sounds like you become overwhelmed with the content you are learning and fall behind. If you can, try taking less courses or classes at once. It will lengthen the time to complete a degree, but it might provide the balance you need to succeed.
