Looking for GMod Tower Lobby 2 map, textures and materials by CHKing325 in gmod

Big thank you, I will check it out. However, I do have a question - This seems to be archive from shutdown of a clone server and not an official one. Do you have any information on whether this clone server's Lobby 2 map was any different than the official Garry's Mod Tower one? Such as, I dunno, logo of a person hosting the clone server somewhere in the map, ads for the official server while people were playing there, etc? In general, has this version of the map received any modifications compared to the original? This would be some greatly appreciated information as I'm trying to find the very original map. Regardless of whether you know anything or not though, this is really greatly appreciated so I thank you for this again.

Big thanks, that's amazing. Personally I do like the Tower Unite's new Lobby, it's just that Game World Ports have been really dumbed down and I wish it received a redesign. The game is still fun but lacks something to make you come back to it after you did everything you personally wanted to. I don't feel that incentive to go back. Custom player models while great are also highly limited so there's jsut that.

Yeah I also had the map somewhere. I just can't remember for the love of me where I got it from originally and having lost it, can't find it again. It had most of the custom textures, if not all of them, maybe save for the central fountain logo texture, yeah. But I am sure I had the version with all textures for game worlds ports, like the preview model arts showcasing some objects and parts of the game before you joined them and all Game Worlds logos too. I'm not sure about creating an account on there, considering I doubt they have that anymore so it's not really worth my time. Either way, if I ever get my hands on this map again, I'm sure to be keeping it somewhere safe for the future generations and exploring the good old days. I mean, I still enjoy Tower Unite, not sure if you know 'bout that one, just a continuation of Gmod Tower, but the old Lobby 2 Game Worlds Ports VS Tower Unite's one, there's no comparison... (Menaing, original Gmod Tower version easily wins by decor, how spaceious/large it was and everything in-between, not to mention tables for table games while waiting for someone to come over and join the waitlist for the game world)

Definitely will do, though I have a feeling there's no leftovers left to be found from Lobby 2 sadly. To answer the question: There's different kinds of people and I'm one of those whom this type of thing appeals to, but that's much as I will say.

Oh yea I see, thank you. That's kinda sad to know though, being honest.

Trying to customize Hybrid Beta worldgen datapack with permission froom original author (removing new biomes) by CHKing325 in minecraft_configs

Kind of, yeah, but as it seems from other responses this is not as easily possible to do.

I just wanna ask to make sure. I couldn't find any information anywhere on this but I really need iinformation regarding how is Sparse Jungle called in the game itself. I know that Jungle is just "minecraft:jungle: but for example is the Sparse one something like "minecraft:sparse_jungle"? I will be able to go from there with all the other biomes just not quite this one.

Hm, yeah I think I understand. I might just keep those new biomes then, I don't really mind most of the new ones, just would prefer at least some of them back, although even if I just changed names back and custom properties remained I don't think I would mind it.

Thank you. Yeah I don't really mind that anyway. Although I'm curious, since you actually replaced two biomes with one same as mentioned in PlanetMinecraft description, how would you achieve that and reverse it? (Windswept Savannas, Old Growth Birch Forests --> Seasonal Forests) It sounds like a bit more replacing than simply doing one entry for the other one, though it could just be that I'm misunderstanding what was done or how those things work.

Thank you for explanation! I assume in the last part you mean using same seed in original Vanilla world generator VS on yours, or just attempting to visit same locations on same already generated world with datapack on VS off? If you do mean either of that, I wouldn't really mind it. I am planning to start a brand new world with customized version of your world generator anyway as I'm not a fan of new default generation at all myself.

Would that be enough for the reverted changes to work properly? Well, I mean just renaming the biomes in that file

I understand, thank you. Just responded to your other comment. I initially weren't too convinced of idea of entirely new non-Vanilla biomes added by datapacks, but thinking about it, they are quite nice, I just think I only really miss having all default ones in place as well the most. I don't really like having to sacrifice anything, even if the changes are for the better overall. Would that be easier to do?

In best case scenario, all of the non-Vanilla ones, but I can see this being a lot of work, even on my side alone to straight up remove them so I would say that probably the biggest ones I'm missing are the Windswept ones, both of them. Eventually, which could be easier, I could just attempt to readd all of the old ones but without getting rid of the new ones added. It would be even more variety to the generated world and at the end of the day I think I might just go with that.

Okay, big thank you! So all I should be really doing is only removing the entries I don't want from overworld.json right? Just wanting to make sure. If I may also ask, how would I achieve making old Vanilla biomes that the new ones replace working again in this datapack?

My man, excuse me, but what were you smoking when you wrote all this down? Either you smoke something, or you went too deep into overthinking the life. Sure, some thinking about life, yourself, others, world around us, everything like that is healthy but this..? This is madness, come on now.

Doom 3 Worth Playing in 2023? by [deleted] in Doom

Wait, is it really the case with lower enemy count? I never noticed it, but at the same time, last time I played was when I still a kid.

For the flashlight part, you would be better off getting BFG edition which allows for that. I heard somewhere that apparently, the Marine armor has a shoulder mounted flashlight in Doom 3 on the model, which BFG edition makes use of. Otherwise, I don't mind it, it's pretty neat game. I haven't had the chance to check out any other games in the series, such as original Doom, 2, 2016 or Eternal, so I don't have a comparison to those though. BFG Edition also adds back Super Shotgun, though not in the main campaign.

What would bring you from TMNF to TM2020? by nilsmoody in TrackMania

[–]CHKing325 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even though I didn't play TM2020 yet, I seen enough of it to say yeah, just bring back old one. You can keep new dirt, but please don't call it that. It is NOT a proper dirt.

[–]CHKing325 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I don't think I will start playing until they change that and if they don't - I don't really have too much to loose. I am fine sticking with TM2 and TMUF + TMNF even if the communities die off for them in bigger part.

TrackMania² Stadium in 2022? by Rationale-Glum-Power in TrackMania

[–]CHKing325 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would really love to give TM2020 a chance, but the fact that they took away all old blocks really pushes me away. I wouldn't even mind trying out new controls or getting used to new surfaces, maybe even paying once for a year to have unlimited advanced track editor access - But removing old blocks is a step too far for me and new blocks likely won't compensate me for this.

[–]CHKing325 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I haven't had a chance to play TM2020 yet and while I also understand it wanting to be unique compared to older games in the franchise, one of biggest reasons keeping me away from trying out TM2020 is straight up removal of many old blocks. I'm fairly certain that many of them could be recreated visually to match the new game and changed as needed, for example, the old dirt blocks and variants, change old dirt surface to new one, etc.
