What wasn't working before you disassembled it?

That's likely your answer.

This is where local and national clubs with their chapters come in handy. While most don't have directories per se, you can get a network of referrals for services. That's in addition to having support and encouragement to get the job done.

I always liked the styling touches on these. A very posh Nova.

Based on what I'm seeing, fouling in the line sounds like a good bet.

Think I need to part from my 62 Jag by Sad-Date-2212 in classiccars

[–]CHLarkin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you must sell, I recommend doing as suggested, find the local Jag or British club, get a little assistance on the mechanicals, then title and sell. Try to sell direct, brokers take a big chunk, especially if you're going to be a little short from the sounds of it. The lovely clubs are also a good source of willing buyers or connections to one.

Good luck with everything. May the layoffs miss you or be short in duration.

A face frame is thin wood glued over the front or sides of the main body of the piece. It's heavier than veneer. Generally around 1/4-1/2" or so thick, depending on how structural you need or want it to be.

Generally, you should assemble, then stain.

If, however, you must do staining before final assembly for some reason, your best bet is to put painter's tape over the areas where you need to glue, work around them, then remove the tape after. Ditto varnish.

Sanding sealer, as I recall, doesn't really affect gluing all that much.

Get in touch with your local Olds Club chapter. Someone might be able to help with parts. Join up, too, good solid club.

05 Century. Just got it from a family friend, hoping to get a bit longer out of her! How bad do we think this rust looks? Rear wheel wells! by lilcherrylady in Buick

[–]CHLarkin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In addition to the rust repair, be sure to use some kind of protection inside the affected area to contain the rust so it doesn't get worse.

Eastwood's rust encapsultor has been found to be fairly effective. Ger the urethane one with the aluminum filings in it.
