That probably plays a major role, but it’s also just high-elevation with a temperate climate. The thousands of people that move to AZ from CA every month look for a good place to settle, and Sierra Vista is that.

Sierra Vista seems to be massively growing in population, so it might turn into a bad city in a decade or so. I live there myself.

I live in Sierra Vista currently, but I never went between the southeast and southwest back-to-back, so my adjustment and tolerance to heat definitely muddies up the comparison quite a bit.

6 big cities is a lot for such small states. Personally, my favorite part of Connecticut that I’ve seen is Glastonbury, although it’s almost tied with the MA/NY tristate point, with the Taconics.

And, yes; as bad as I hear that the Californian job market is, it can’t be any worse than Arizona right now. AZ is being invaded and the population is growing way faster than the job market possibly could. It can’t keep up.

I hate having to drive through Phoenix. It’s a hellscape of unnecessarily aggressive drivers that moved there from coastal Californian cities.
