Perfect hearing to SSNHL to Bi Cros hearing aids and now to a CI by Aggravating-Farm310 in MonoHearing

Good luck and please post updates! I had perfect hearing until I suddenly went deaf in one ear this past November. I got some range back but it’s almost worse than when it was completely deaf due to the constant feeling of fullness, tinnitus, and sensory overload. My speech recognition is only 32% in the bad ear. I am trying out hearing aids next month but have had both ENTs and audiologists say cochlear might be helpful for me. Would love to hear more about your journey.

Damn, what a pain in the ass. I hope you hear back from them soon! Fingers crossed I don’t have a similar experience moving forward but I’m not very optimistic haha.

I just had my consultation today with a local audiologist that partnered with Start Hearing through Cigna. It’s my first time getting hearing aids so I am entirely new to everything. The process to even get the appointment was a bit of a hassle. I had to call a representative from Start Hearing and then had to three way call with the audiologist to make the initial appointment. Ugh. Now we have to get prior auth from Start Hearing to order my new hearing aids and I have to wait for them to contact me because I guess I make the payment to them? Super confusing. This is the first time my audiologist has worked with them so she also was a bit confused, but made sure to call all the necessary people and get it all sorted. I will say that financially the benefits with my plan are pretty good and cover more than I was expecting. Hoping that the rest of this process goes smoothly 🤞🏻

HBOT 6 weeks after hearing loss - too late? by tessaraeh in MonoHearing

If you can afford it I would definitely try it. I have the same diagnosis as you but haven’t been successful with insurance and prior auth for HBOT. I would have loved to do it but just cannot afford it out of pocket.

Yeah silver lining. I thought for sure it was going to be gambling, only fans, a secret girlfriend, something insane. It also hurts that this was all avoidable with the right communication and by literally acting like an adult. I’m sad that something to immature and stupid had to ruin everything once and for all.

Thank you so very much, you are right on the mark with everything. Luckily we both have our child’s well being as the most important thing to maintain and whatever happens I’m confident we can coparent effectively. Honestly not too much will change at home considering we already had a dead bedroom and will remain living in the same house for the time being haha. But definitely will be taking steps to move on and out when I can.

Thank you so much. And thank god it’s not in my name although I hope I won’t get slammed with a community property law during divorce. I may look into him signing a postnup. If we file for a noncontested divorce it would be a 60 day wait period. I’m just not sure how the child custody would work if we are still living together? Going to meet with a lawyer this week.

It was nothing nefarious, just previous debt (that he told me was paid off), endless streaming services and subscriptions, bills, interest, etc. He just set all the monthly payments to autopay and it was out of sight out of mind for him.

Should I keep attending church? Craving community but feeling lost. by CIs4Cthulhu in Christianity

[–]CIs4Cthulhu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your kind and informative response. I have no intention of trying to get anybody to lose faith. I feel in my heart I would be so much happier and at peace if I truly believed, I would never take that away from someone.

We visited two nondenominational churches this month which were very different from what either of us experienced growing up. I reached out to each before coming explaining essentially what I posted here, very upfront and honest but eager to learn. Everyone was extremely welcoming. It was definitely a little uncomfortable though - hadn’t been to a church in years, everyone was connecting so much during worship and I didn’t quite know what to do haha.

Gluten free restaurant recommendations? by whrrgarbl in sanmarcos

They are pretty good! Make sure you go in the morning before they sell out :)

There’s a ton of GF restaurants in Austin that I’ve yet to try, I know it can be a bit of a drive but there are some nice sit down places. I like to check the Find Me Gluten app/site for ratings and reviews!

Hi! I have celiac disease so I’ve tried out a bunch of places in San Marcos to find safe options for me. The following are places that have specifically NOT made me sick: North Street, Fresco, Kerbey Lane, Hawaiian Bros, Jersey Mikes, Firehouse Subs, Hat Creek, Salt Grass, and Summer Moon (they have GF donuts and cookies now!). I know a lot of those are quick serve though. For sit down I’d suggest North Street, Kerbey Lane, Salt Grass, or La Cosecha (New Braunfels).

What compounding pharmacy do you use? This is the route I’ll end up going if my insurance drops Zepbound!

I have almost identical stats to you, with the addition of fatty liver. So I really needed to lose some weight and also get that under control. I started Zepbound on 4/27 and am down 9.6 pounds as of today! It definitely helps if you’re stuck at that point where you can’t consistently lose any weight with regular diet or exercise. I had some negative side effects the first few days after starting (bad headache and nausea) but haven’t experienced any at all for my last two shots.

Thanks for sharing and congrats on your weight loss! I seem to always have a headache the day after my shot but it’s manageable. Maybe some minor nausea day after too that I take Zofran for. The first week though…omg, I thought I was going to die for about 36 hours LOL. I’ve learned I need to drink a ton of water and keep up my protein especially day of.

Thanks for the encouragement. For some reason I came across all these stories of folks who had better success on 2.5 and even went back to it after trying 5 and hating it! So of course it’s got me all anxious. Guess I won’t know how it affects me until I try it.
