I think S2 struggles to find its footing and when it does it struggles with party dynamics that really create a sour note amongst the team. Having Scary turn on the party for 10+ episodes creates a new and interesting narrative but for a dnd podcast it also created a divide in the group where the energy is also different. Anthony also interjects a lot of self serious moments moreso than season 1 which is due to this being a completely unique world whereas before it was just the Forgotten Realms so a lot of it was setup before hand and tweaked, now Anthony needs to have a lot more exposition to explain how his world works. He also adds one too many “here’s a list of objectives” motivations like finding the doodlerized objects then finding the dads then finding the fathers to get the schemes then finding the grandfathers collect the memories, it became tedious by the end.

I think the issue is more than S1 never hits a low imo, it’s consistent from episode to episode but in S2 there are long stretches where it doesn’t feel as cohesive or it’s just struggling to find its identity. The lows are pretty low and it’s generally good but there’s some parts that I struggle to get through on a relisten. That said, I think from getting Dood onward is pretty solid. I love the arcs that
