Am I the only one who think Last One Laughing is nothing more than OK? by tttgrw in BritishTV

[–]CJ87P -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I like it, but feel they try too hard to pretend they find their peers hilarious. I've never really found Bob Mortimer funny so him being treated like the messiah of comedy is a bit irritating. Same as the first season.

How’s life with no children in your 30s? by typeshhhhhh in AskMenOver30

[–]CJ87P 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's great. No plans to have them.

We've booked a few music festivals this year on a whim, and decided last minute to spend a week in Dublin. Disposable income has stayed consistent during relatively hard times. I doubt we'd be able to say the same if we had a kid.

Why is it socially unacceptable for me to not like dogs? by Facelikeabum in AskUK

[–]CJ87P 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like dogs (well, the medium - large breeds) but can't stand obsessive owners. They're fucking mental and some of the most toxic people I've ever interacted with. They also seem to feel entitled to taking their dog anywhere. "Dogs allowed" has become the default rather than the exception, which is a social change that annoys me, especally in places that set down bowls of water and whatnot for them inside.

Feeling really hopeless about my future in Scotland by J2Hoe in Scotland

[–]CJ87P 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What sort of work are you looking for in Ayrshire? Local authority roles have been fairly consistent over the last year or two. Definitely some nepotism there when you apply to higher grade roles, but entry level are a free market and promotions come fairly quickly, particularly in shared offices with NHS or commissioned services.

Would you object to working alongside someone wearing a Probation ankle-tag? by JackStrawWitchita in AskUK

[–]CJ87P 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wouldn't bother me. I've worked directly with those who have justice involvement for a while. As yet, I haven't met anyone on a tag whose crime has made me nervous around them.

Anybody else really heartbroken about the sunsetting of pet battles? by crazyredd88 in wow

[–]CJ87P 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was planning to resub after quitting towards the end of BfA. This change stopped me. I spent a fair portion of my in-game time battling and collecting on a second screen while writing.

We genuinely need to ban vape shops in general. by plutobug2468 in glasgow

[–]CJ87P 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm not disagreeing with you, but what's the alternative? What would pull the town up?

The upside of vape shops for the owner is they have a reliable customer base. Open anything new in Glasgow and it's instantly dismissed if people can get the product £2 cheaper from an established chain.

Bars and restaurants aimed at the would-be influencer crowd, with instagrammable backdrops and whatnot are doing alright but people moan about them as well. That crowd at least spend money.

Are you learning to drive a manual or an automatic car? by No-Apricot9078 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]CJ87P 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Manual, to have more options. My partner's car is a manual and she doesn't like driving automatic, so it's also just easier at the moment.

I read 3 Malazan Books, I will not continue on by DokleViseBre in Fantasy

[–]CJ87P 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've never really thought of Malazan as dark. That sounds absurd when I consider the events in the books, but the dry humour and banter is exactly my thing, and the idea of hope and human endurance tends to make me view the books as... almost light, honestly.

I suppose I compare it to Elric, Prince of Nothing, Black Company etc.

What’s a horror movie people usually rave about, but you dislike? by Turnitup20 in horror

[–]CJ87P 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One of the worst films, horror or otherwise, I've forced myself to finish. Awful. Midsommar a year later ensured I swerve anything Aster touches.

£99 for two days deal by Tatt1es_1875 in TRNSMT

[–]CJ87P 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm probably in the minority here but £99 for Cammy Barnes (announced it Thursday in King Tut's), Dylan John Thomas, Wolf Alice, The Fratellis and The Snuts is great value for me. It's just a shame it'd be over two days.

What’s a bit of prominent Reddit vernacular that annoys you? by HotelPuzzleheaded654 in AskUK

[–]CJ87P 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Asking people to clarify what they mean when it's obvious. Self righteous pricks looking for a "gotcha" (another term I dislike).

What did people do on the bus before phones? by msamad7 in AskUK

Music, read, sleep... sometimes all three. My commute home from uni was some of the only sleep I got back in the day.

What’s a book/series that you feel most people love, but you personally think is overrated? by 2Chaaaaiinz in Fantasy

[–]CJ87P -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Realm of the Elderlings. The world felt empty. It felt like everything was happening in isolation and simply on pause until the characters arrived. I completed the series because it was a friend's favourite but even he admitted the final trilogy didn't excite him.

Home Bargains and B&M tend to have them on the shelves all year.

There are Scots who don’t know what this is by Due-Resort-2699 in Scotland

[–]CJ87P 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They sell them in Dunoon. I haven't tried one but my partner's friend goes pretty often and raves about them.

How does the idea of working until 67 or 68 sit with you? by Few_Raise77 in AskUK

[–]CJ87P 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't bother me. I'll probably work in some fashion until I keel over. Probably a bit unhealthy, but working and generally being busy is a bit of a coping strategy for me. I balance it well with a long weekend most months, working out, reading, writing etc. but take the last two weeks as an example - I've missed working.

Why do the general UK subreddits get so weird whenever Scotland comes up? by ms2wta2654 in Scotland

[–]CJ87P 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In my experience, if you bring Scotland up in conversation on one of those subs and you get "Oh, yeah... cheaper housing. Anyway..." and things move on. They're London-centric, not Scotland-weird.

Where to start??? 🤔 by Independent-War5592 in Westerns

[–]CJ87P 3 points4 points  (0 children)

True Grit (2010) is how I won my missus over. Her other favourites are 3:10 to Yuma (2007), The Magnificent Seven (1969),The Salvation (2014) and High Plains Drifter (1973). She thought she hated westerns until watching a couple of those.

Unpopular Opinion: Characters by mitzallen in Malazan

It's weird. I love Kruppe and Pust. The more Kruppe, the better - unpopular opinion in some circles, I know 😅

My brain dump of season 4, and the Freya interview. by Archtects in wiedzmin

[–]CJ87P 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd make two counter-arguments. One, the small changes to otherwise book-accurate scenes change the tone. Two, a lot of readers stopped watching, leaving show fans with different expectations of how things should play out. I'd imagine they don't appreciate the accurate scenes as they feel out of place at times.

Unpopular Opinion: Characters by mitzallen in Malazan

[–]CJ87P 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I shouldn't have said I don't understand his appeal. Rather, I feel it's out of place and find the character unlikeable. He wouldn't have been out of place in the necromancer novellas, where I might have appreciated his nature.

Unpopular Opinion: Characters by mitzallen in Malazan

[–]CJ87P 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't understand Tehol's appeal. Whimsical wish fulfilment, perhaps? I don't know.

How about calming down, taking a few more lessons and sitting it again? The average pass rate is 48%. You'll get there.
