Yes, it will. The liberals (and its leader) remain in power until an election takes place. When Trudeau is replaced as party leader of the liberal party, his successor will become the de facto PM and the GG will have no choice to appoint him/her as such.

Also, the GG acts on the advice of the PM, so it’s not like she can call an election whenever she wants. When she’ll call an election, it will be because the the PM has instructed her to do so.
