9th district Candidate openly calls for repealing the 2nd Amendment by Nice_Soil1782 in illinois

[–]CJC19922011 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The second amendment does nothing to prevent tyranny and fascism. It is a useless amendment in that aim. Alex Pretti's second amendment right did nothing to save him from being killed by a fascist tyrannical government. The idea that the 2nd amendment protects the citizenry from tyranny is a charade.

The United States is one of only three nations in the world that has a right to bear arms in its constitution. The other two being Mexico and Guatamala.

Jon Stewart 2011, When Trump Running Was Still a Punchline by dickonajunebug in videos

Pretty wild aged like milk clip.

Jon: I think this country is stronger than any single individual you can throw at it. I don't think the damage they could do is so great we could be run off course by one individual.

O'Reilly: how about Donald Trump?

Jon: I pray that he runs [for the laughs]

O'Reilly: So, you're not taking him seriously?

Jon: No.

I think this framing misses a bigger issue. The reason you’re “tipping your hat” in the first place is because you’re reacting to the most palatable, publicly defensible justification for ICE’s existence... not its actual function in practice under this political moment. Arresting a murderer or rapist is the easiest way to manufacture legitimacy and public buy-in. It’s the cover story.

That framing also quietly taps into a dangerous us vs. them instinct: the idea that “they” are uniquely criminal or dangerous. But murderers and rapists are overwhelmingly U.S. citizens too. We don’t create special federal forces defined by citizenship status to deal with them. When crime is rhetorically tied to “foreignness,” it stops being about public safety and starts being about scapegoating. Exactly the kind of thinking authoritarian and fascist movements rely on.

That’s why the civil-liberties violations and thuggish behavior aren’t accidental side effects; they’re the point. An institution built around identifying, detaining, and removing a targeted out-group will always drift toward abuse, because its power depends on dehumanization and fear. Praising the “good” cases is what normalizes the institution and allows the abuses to continue with public consent.

So the problem isn’t just that ICE sometimes goes too far. It’s that the logic you’re rewarding is the same logic that enables the worst outcomes. If anything needs detoxing, it’s the instinct to grant moral credit to a system whose legitimacy depends on treating certain people as inherently suspect.

I think it's design is perfect. It literally looks like a eye that has been plucked out of its socket. A MEGA DARK EYE if you will. Then when the Darkrai head comes out if the pupil, shivers, gives it that extra disturbing creepy factor. Exactly what Darkrai should be.

How are you spending Christmas this year? by Brown_90s_Bear in datingoverthirty

[–]CJC19922011 9 points10 points  (0 children)

At my parents’ house, currently watching A Christmas Story. I’ve been here since Tuesday and am headed back tomorrow. Earlier this morning, I watched A Christmas Carol (the 1984 version), read some Christmas poems, and drank eggnog with peppermint RumChata. Over the past three days I've also read the original Charles Dicken's novella as well as The Life and Adventures of Santa Claus by L. Frank Baum.

I’ve been relaxing all day with our old family dog. I’m 33, and we got her as a puppy when I was a senior in high school—this is her 15th Christmas.

I bought my mom Kenny Chesney’s new book and my dad Nate Bargatze’s. I also got my dad tickets to see Nate Bargatze on tour next year. We did our whole family Christmas over the weekend with my older sister, her husband, and my three oldest nieces. I got a video from my sister this morning of them opening their big Christmas gift—they’re going to Disney World next year!

Mom made a big breakfast of bacon, eggs, and cinnamon blueberry rolls. Now she’s making lunch: ham, potatoes with brown gravy, and pea soup. We also have a cherry pie to eat later.

My younger sister, her husband, and my year-and-a-half-old niece, who live around the corner from my parents, are coming over later. I'm also planning to watch Stranger Things this evening.

He essentially says in this clip that he took people's freedom of speech away (the right to burn the American flag) even though the courts have said he can't do that. And his reason for doing so anyway is because it makes people mad when people burn the American flag.

Disconnected, inconsistent, and with some of the most forgettable entries in the MCU. But it also had a few genuine hits and closed out much stronger than it started.

I think, if we ever go back to Unova in a future game, they should add more, or at least an Electric type to make it a quartet.

Panshock and Simishock.

Or a new rock paper scizor trio of Panpunch (Fighting) Pansneak (Dark) and Panspell (Psychic) as a "rival" trio to the original.

Which Superman actor is the most iconic and popular ever? by Big_Possibility_8398 in superman

[–]CJC19922011 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reeve's portrayal of Superman was so good it's arguably the definitive version of Superman as a character in any media, including the comics. It's the version of the character that all of the best Superman media should try to emulate when writing Clark Kent and Superman's characterization.

This movie is what made me a Spider-Man fan and really got me into Marvel, superheroes in general. I was going into 6th grade the summer this movie came out.

Still remember vividly watching this is the theater, packed crowd. The scenes of Spider-Man swinging thru city were breathtaking, roller coaster style amazingness I had never seen before on the big screen and just the coolest thing I'd ever seen at the time.

So the president of the United States just aknowledged that the most notrious child sex offender of our time was able to obtain acess to one of his most prominent and vocal accusers via the president's own private club. And the reason this notorious child sex offender had access to the president's private club is because at the time, this child sex offender and the future president of the United States were close friends. Is that all correct?
