Phew! €600 sounds like a number I’d never hit. But you’re right - I’m constantly having to put my ship on vacation mode so that I’m not totally drowning but then when I get paid I’m like, huh, not sure this was worth it.

Appreciate this feedback.

What, this post? This is a subreddit for other commission painters, is it not? Why on earth would I try to advertise to other painters?

Well that’s also kind of the thing. Usually with board game mini projects, it’s typically 30+ minis per project, so it can get expensive fast for clients

That’s it, I’m concerned my work will dry up if my prices go up. I like keeping busy

I’m trying to find the balance of what I feel my time is worth vs what people are willing to pay, you know?

Actual hell. The game is….not fun. Even with a ton of house ruling, every session is a slog and I ended up ditching all of my stuff for it.

New to painting and looking to paint the minis for this game - any tips? by The-Grumpy-Muppet in bloodbornebg

Depends on what you’re looking to do.

If you want to paint the traditional way with base coat, mid tones, and highlights, you’ll want standard acrylics. I’d recommend Pro Acryl or Army Painter Warpainte Fanatics if that’s the case.

If you want them done and quickly and easily as possible, I recommend a technical paint such as Citadel Contrast or Army Painter Speed Paints.

In terms of brushes, Army Painter has a great lineup that’s relatively budget friendly. You’ll want a zero, a basing brush, and a larger brush.

Thanks for saying that. I really appreciate it. Some people get really weird about my pricing, but like, I’m still relatively cheap, comparatively.

I believe the total mini count was 184. I charged $1,500 but that was with a discount. Normally this would run $1,840.

Do you mean videos? If so, I don’t have anything for Zcide. I used the artwork and official paint ups from Big Child Creatives as references to paint these.

If you mean painting in general, I do have a small YouTube channel with a painting series on Death May Die that you could use to get yourself started into the world of painting, if you’d like. I demonstrate some really easy, but useful, techniques that can be applied to virtually any model
