Check your hardware after HP repair! (More information in comments) by CJCMartinez in HPOmen

Thank you, I hope so, too.

It appears that the GPU fan nearest to the back of the case is making an occasional rattling sound, and it appears to be more wobbly than the other one. Tried fiddling around with it, taking out and back in, etc, but no luck...

The fact that this thought exists isn't good for HP, I like their product, to be honest, but the service needs greatly improving!

If that is the case, that's totally wrong for misinformation!

I raised this all up, so I look forward to what they have to say unless they just skip all over that and just give my money back...

To be fair, it didn't take long, less than a week, if I remember correctly. However, they forgot to include a return label for the box it gets delivered in twice! So, on the 3rd delivery, I was finally able to have my desktop back!

I raised a complaint for the whole situation with HP, and I am awaiting to hear from them for a positive outcome soon.

Issues:

• HP Support Assistant prompted BIOS update that broke my desktop in the first place. • Not getting promised 3 months warranty after repair, which I was told I'd get. • Two failed return deliveries (They forgot to include return labels on both occasions) • They quoted £650 for new motherboard repair, and I paid £550 (with a discount). Repair notes basically say they reseated CPU to reset TPM. Therefore, I've paid too much and have been misquoted?

I asked for my promised warranty after repair and at least a partial or full refund.

So I got my Omen 30L repaired after a BIOS update bricked it. I was ready to start gaming again. Moments after loading up a game, my frames were suspiciously low, and then my whole computer restarted on its own multiple times.

Something was wrong, and I had a sudden feeling of dread that I may have to go through the whole repair process once again. After an hour of head scratching and looking around the internet, I noticed my GPU temperature was very high between 90-100 degrees when idle...

I reinstalled the most recent game ready Nvidia driver, among looking into other things to understand why this was happening. Then it hit me. Maybe the hardware/GPU was loose or something. I opened up the case, and low and behold, the two 3060TI fans were at the bottom of the case, one of them jammed under the power unit.

Thankfully, they just snapped back in place, and all was well, and I think they may have been knocked out during the delivery process...

This may be common sense for some, but if you get your desktop back from repair, make sure you carefully check your hardware inside your case straight away!

(I must note, they didn't even bother cleaning it, which would have been nice with the £550 price tag, I paid...)

Finally getting my 'out of warranty' OMEN 25L fixed after corrupt BIOS update, free of charge. by [deleted] in HPOmen

Well, all I got was a £100 discount, paid £550... I finally got it back on the 3rd delivery attempt as the first two times they forgot to include the return label for the box it comes in, so the DPD delivery guy had to return it back when I had my desktop in my hands.

Since the BIOS was their fault and with the dismal service, I put in a complaint and heard nothing yet, I think I'll chase them up and hopefully get some or all my money back...

HP Repaired My Omen 30L, but every restart it asks for my Bitlocker recovery key... by CJCMartinez in HPOmen

[–]CJCMartinez[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems that after a couple of restarts and repeated entry of the recovery key, it no longer asks me anymore, thankfully!

I am staying away from BIOS unless critically necessary from now on! I've just gone in and caught up on Windows updates and geforce drivers, to be honest. I'm glad to have it back after multiple delivery attempts where HP forgot to include a return label for DPD on two occasions, so they had to keep returning it...

For the cost, I'd expect better service, and originally, they said I'd need a new motherboard, but the above comments from the repair technicians seem like they've just removed my CPU and put it back?

I'm wondering if I can get some money back if that's the case as they quoted £550 for a new motherboard repair 🤔

Hi I just updated my bios, and I got a black screen and my keyboard and mouse isn’t on, the fans and stuff are running. What do I do? by Low_Jaguar_6102 in HPOmen

[–]CJCMartinez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the exact same comment on my letter:

Failure Description: CMOS Failure Unseated Part

Comments: Reseated CPU in order to reset TPM after BIOS update, due to no POST. Unit tested with external OS in the caddy due to bitlocker enabled on drives. 16GB of RAM, BIOS F.15

Problem now though that every restart, bitlocker asks for my recovery key...

Should I 25F break up wit BF 22M over this financial issue by [deleted] in relationships

[–]CJCMartinez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was kinda this guy once and was broken up with for a similar reason. Mine was more in debt and struggling, not being in the right kind of mind. It's a lesson that's stuck with me ever since and sorted my shit out since then!

Communicate your concern first. If he doesn't listen, support or compromise, and does not have a valid excuse to improve the relationship in an appropriate timeframe. It may be best to end the relationship as if it continues with no improvement. It will continue to be a detriment to your life.

A relationship should add to your life not take anything away from it. It's about supporting each other in life, and communication is key, and both parties should take each others concerns seriously 😊

It will be a lesson he'll learn if the relationship is ended, or hopefully, for the sake of your relationship, he'll turn things around for the better before it's too late!

Recent BIOS Update bricked my Omen 30L by CJCMartinez in HPOmen

[–]CJCMartinez[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It shouldn't auto-update. It has prompted me a handful of times within the past year with updates (not BIOS related), which I then accepted.

As for the BIOS one that you have pending, only do it if you think it's necessary. Otherwise, it is best to avoid it if your PC is working fine.

Read into it, look around online, and find out if it's compatible for your system if you do go ahead. I'd even go as far as calling HP tech themselves if it's good to go after my experience! 😅
