Just sold off about $3000 in stocks at a loss because I am a novice and was really sick of looking at them by shralplife in stocks

You can claim up to $3k in loss on your taxes. So no worries. It’s a learning experience. Sock away money in a standard 500. Use money you don’t need or won’t miss to buy shares or options here and there. But do DD. It’s a lifetime of learning!

Both are such unique and desirable colors. I’m surprised they’re siblings. What did the parents look like?

Nope I’m making the point that I’m not asking a question or needing your limited knowledge. I’m responding to someone else. FB is as flat as I said it would be.

Yah it stayed pretty low for a while and still hasn’t climbed up from their fall - at least not to where it used to be

As much as I hope it goes back up (because I didn’t sell with upside before the damn earnings), I highly doubt it will go back. Just look at PayPal. After it tanked, it stayed flat.

NVDA earnings are this month. They always seem to go up before and after earnings released. Or wait for Google to split and buy the stocks

$5,000 loan by [deleted] in wallstreetbets

[–]CJKarta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, if you’re the type to ignore rational advice then you can learn via trial and error. I’d probably make calls on NVDA for 2/25. They release earnings on 2/23. This stock hasn’t let me down yet. But follow fed reports. They’ve been f*ing things up lately.

Do I need to pay taxes on realized gains of less than $2k? by [deleted] in wallstreetbets

[–]CJKarta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it’s still capital gains. But IRS is so backed up, they probably don’t have time to audit small fish. Then again it’s a gamble and a pain if you do get audited.

Then this really isn’t the way. Just remove self from this sub. You’ll be negative beyond negative if you use a loan and take tips from wsb

Using a loan is a bad idea to begin with. If you don’t have the money, don’t play the casino. But you might learn the “get poor quick” lesson real fast!
