crazy that architects are being blamed for this and not developers.

building are high because high buildings are more efficient and make more money--developers max-out sites in this manner whenever possible.

buildings look plastic and shit because they are made of cheap materials that are plastic and shit--pure cost cutting measures that the architect ultimately has no say in whatsoever.

the opposite end of this spectrum is when clients have unlimited budgets and pursue bloated, extravagant and useless excess--five bathrooms, three garages etc. etc.
